Thoughts??
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Well, I'm just joking of course. I personally hate the feel of my facial hair so I wouldn't grow a beard if I could and it comes in shitty anyway.

I've always thought that about shavers. Either they are covering something up, like their inability to grow a full on manly beard, or they've been seduced by the scum sucking piece of filth advertising shitheads (no offence op) sloganising, into throwing their money away on fripperies.

I am trying to grow a beard right now. The thing I am just now learning is that I have fast and slow growing hairs. Instead of shaving it all off in frustration over how thin it was, I just trimmed it back several times. It is coming in better........the thing I hate it those damn hairs that try and bridge the gap between chest hair and beard hair. Rrrrrrrrr

It's ironic your definition of covering something up is removing a wall of hair, that covers something up. What manly traits are are always changing anyways. Beards are just the current trend.

The irony is that people fell for the advertising bullshit, that, people that "wear" beards are the ones covering something up, when it is in fact, those that can't grow a beard that are the ones covering up that fact.
Beards are not a "trend" for fucks sake, they are part of the evolutionary progress. You can't grow a beard? You need to evolve more.

Beards are a fashion trend, absolutely. One thing or another will make them fashionable or unfashionable. For instance the roman empire banned them for the throat slitting reason. The internet's sense of cliche man hood made them popular again to some degree. Anyway you can alter hair on your body is not too different than fashion accessories such as bracelets or necklaces.
Some people look good with beards, some people look like a hobo with them. Anyway, having a beard = manliness is some stupid cliche I don't buy into. I've met awesome beard wearing men who were complete sissies. It symbolizes nothing and is a clue to nothing about the individual to me.

You should just let it ride and next time you want a hair cut don't do it and just go full on jim morrison. Wear blacked out sunglasses and smoke half smoked fat cigars.. and make everything you say in the form of a 'pondering question', that would be where I took that..dope as fuck..

I'm not allowed to grow a beard because my job. Also having a beard tends to make me look much older than I am.
I guess I can't be a real hipster...

The beard I had. Definitely looks manlier. Doesn't make me manlier though.
I'm growing it back out now.

Trends come and go, but I can't really see ever being bothered to spend money on razors and start shaving every day. The expense, the accidental cuts, the sharp stubble when you don't do it for a little while, etc. And for what? The payoff just is not there for me.

Depends on the job and how you groom the beard. A well kept beard or a scruffy mess makes all the difference.

I love my beard and I hate shaving. I've actually looked up quite a bit of stuff on beards and despite what I learned, they are very useful in the cooler months. A good beard equalizes the dimensions of your facial features. If your cheeks make you look like you have beady little eyes, growing a beard will make your cheeks appear smaller.
Currently I'm a few months in to the beard, very little trimming done. I oil my beard and use moustache wax. IMO the key to a good beard is learning how to accent your head shape and facial features, and not trimming too often. Just like your hair, you can have 'bad beard days.' The best advice I've gotten is to take a week or so to consider if you want to fuck with it at all, often by the time a week has gone by you've forgotten why you wanted to bother. I kind of have a round head so I try to keep it from growing too outward on the cheeks so I don't appear to look like I have half a basketball on my face.
My girlfriend loves my beard.

I kind of want to grow my hair out a bit now so I look like some kind of woodsy man-beast.
