He'll always be "that annoying fuck in Fifth Element" to me.

:awesome: oh yeah they are.

but about the CGI...hmmm, it looks laden with CGI for the environment, but it looks nice crisp and clear. i can't complain.

it's not like i'm raving about the movie either, i just thought it looked kinda interesting and del Toro is directing it so...just thought i'd share.

 That was my attitude with the Rush Hour movies. 5th Element was pretty good though IMO.

not really, they can both be watched independent of each other. the second one's got more REAL humor (the family, especially the mom, is hilarious) and the fighting is much more in your face.

the stories are unconnected.

Yeah, it could be good. Trailers are usually lame. The ghosts were all wispy and stuff which was weird looking.

it's going to be playing on some old school ghost sentiment, like mystery and shit, i think.

Indeed. I've only seen Mimic which was wtf, and Pan's Labyrinth which I haven't seen for a long time, but I remember being alright. Have you seen The Devil's Backbone? I think that's a ghost story.

i haven't seen it yet, but it looks like it's got some real positives about it. it's supposed to be really scary and del Toro considers it like one of his most personal films or something? that sounds interesting. Pan's Labyrinth is great but maybe a bit overhyped i guess; and Devil's Backbone sounds more or less like a sleeper hit.
