terrerium heating pads for incubation
    #2232984 - 01/10/04 11:35 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Has anyone ever tried using the large heating pads made for terreriums to use as a heating source in the incubation chamber?

My thouts are that since the pad covers the entire area of the incubation chamber that it would give more even temps around the chamber vs. using a fish tank heater. I was worried it might be to much heat in direct contact with the jars but maybe if you placed one or two wash cloths between the heater and the jars you should be ok.

Let me know what you think.
cheers-

it can work but it will take some experimenting, I've used them, waterbed heaters and all kinds of crap, it really just depends on what you want to spend

stick a thermometer on top of the pad and play with the temp settings for a few hrs. Mine has a built in thermostat so when it reaches a programable temp it'll just maintain it instead of falling or rising.
