Openvpn on Fedora 22, does anyone know how to fix/stop dns leaks?

I'm having quite an issue with dns leaks. I'm running Fedora 22 with Openvpn and using private internet access for my vpn provider. PIA has their own dns, when I first started using it I wasn't having all these dns leaks that I am now.
I've asked for help in three different forums, ask fedora, Openvpn, and private internet access forums. I've gotten not a single suggestion on how to properly fix or diagnose the problem.
I'm still pretty green when it comes to Linux, but I'm not afraid of the command line, not that I'm all that good with it... I don't have this dns leak issue on my computers running Ubuntu, but I'm using PIA's Linux beta which offers dns leak protection. Their beta is only compatible with Debian/Ubuntu based OS which use apt-get, though I saw some have found the needed dependencies to make it work for other Linux based OS's, Fedora is not one of those that were made to work.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, there is no point in using a vpn if it's leaking my real info and i have already paid for a year of PIA service up front. PIA doesn't offer support for Fedora, this didn't bother me when I signed up. I thought all I had to do was import the config files and run the vpn and I'd be good. It all seemed to work fine in the begining, now I'm just lost and confused...

dns settings should be in /etc/resolv.conf
i would imagine you'd want to update that so you are only using one dns server
you can just comment out the others if you want and then change it back
it might be a good idea to flush the resolver cache after you change it

I have to add the name servers through network manager or they get overwritten. Apparently I can only have three and I can't figure out how to remove verizons nameserver. Adding PIA's nameserver hasn't changed anything, probaby because the verizon one is still there. I should keep the router in there right, the 192.168.1.1?
Network manager only seems to have a way to add a name server so atm I'm trying to figure out how to delete one, but I'm not sure how this should work though. Network manager is getting verizon's nameserver from our modem/router, don't I need that to connect to my home network?
This is from PIA's website and it is lies because my real info is being leaked:
The dns leak protection feature activates VPN dns leak protection. This ensures that DNS requests are routed through the VPN. This enables the greatest level of privacy and security but may cause connectivity issues in non-standard network configurations.
This can be enabled and disabled in the Windows application, while it is enabled by default on our Mac OS X application.
We use our own private DNS servers for your DNS queries while on the VPN. After connecting we set your operating system's DNS servers to 209.222.18.222 and 209.222.18.218. When using a DNS Leak testing site you should expect to see your DNS requests originate from the IP of the VPN gateway you are connected to.
If you change your DNS servers manually or if for some other reason they are changed this does not necessarily mean your DNS is leaking. Even if you use different DNS servers the queries will still be routed through the VPN connection and will be anonymous.
When I do a leak test ONLY verizon servers come up, nothing about PIA is even there. I've still not gotten a single reply on PIA's forum, askfedora, or the openvpn forum...
That said, thanks micro for trying, any other suggestions?
