Not yet. That takes a level of broader consciousness that people just aren't ready for. Someone has to be at the helm.

Not someONE. An educated group of people.
I like Plato's conception of a Philosopher king, actually. A guy who doesn't even want to be king, but they make him king and ask him questions and he begrudgingly gives them answers. But then, also a large group of advisers who are all experts in their fields of study- scientists, historians, lawyers, philosophers, etc. These are the people who should be in charge, and none of them should really want to be in charge.
For me, being an admin of this group is not something I really enjoy. I think about quitting all the time. But then I think, someone needs to do it. The group is going to be there whether people like me are in charge or not. And without people like me- who know what the fuck they are doing and talking about- the group will be a disaster and people will be even more retarded than they already are, which is pretty damn retarded.

Republic, yes! Even the serfs deserve a say, however, even if it is worth significantly less than a philosopher king/queens. If you think about it, that's kind of what we have now (in America at least, I'm fairly ignorant to foreign politics). How much value to the process does your vote hold, really? Though, it'd be much better if everyone has equal say throughout the process, because the most influential ideas will rise to the top of the herd naturally and that would promote more diverse perspectives. idk, man...
And I like what you are saying about self interest for leaders. If not that, then an extreme amount of regulation for said self interest from the bottom up.

We don't have that in America. We have a Republic, but the leads aren't philosophers. Maybe they were for like the first 50-100 years of the country's existence. Ever since they industrial revolution they are largely just corporate puppets.

Naww adminning large facebook groups usually is easy particularly if you have several admins.

It's an allegory of a republic, lol (re: Plato's Republic). I was referencing Plato. The philosopher kings and queens are the more intelligent people you were referring to (or the representatives that I am suggesting America has), not actually philosophers (though Plato DID think they were philosophers, because he thought of that as the highest form of employ, of course, lol), that's not usually how his works are interpreted today.
Back to my original point, I don't think the representatives today have a broad and diverse perspective. They have self interest and a political mindset. We need a plumber in office.

We have 98 admins but most of them don't do shit. Only like 10 of us actually do anything.
It is the group "Philosophy" on facebook. It takes as much or as little time as I want to put into it, really. I probably spend 1-2 hours a day on there posting and adminning, and having discussions in the Admin group about shit we are planning on doing to improve the group that it seems like we never actually do. These guys are too soft. They never ban anybody, not even for like, straight up posting PORN on the page. They will kick them for a while. They get mad if I ban people. They have a thread on the admin page where we are supposed to post names of people we are "considering for banning" and post arguments about why they should be banned and all this shit, it's ridiculous. There are 33,000 people. There is a new thread every 3-4 minutes, and we don't have time to be discussing all this bullshit about whether or not someone who posts PORN deserves to be banned from a fucking PHILOSOPHY group. Of course they deserve to be banned.
