Help my rotten San Pedro

Dear fellows,
I had had a big San Pedro with two small babies popped up nearby. Now this is what happened to the big one:

As you see it's completely rotten. The tips of the babies are also bruised.
I would love to hear your advises about how to remove the big one and care the babies. Also, I'm curious about the mescaline content of the rotten mother. Obviously I'll not eat it but might get some crystals out of it. What say you?
Thanks in advance

Remove all rotten areas with a sharp razor blade. Dust the cut surface with cinnamon powder - a good antiseptic. Leave for a few days until the cut surfaces dry and callous over. Place in a pot of your preferred medium, and give them some good light straight away. After a couple of weeks water gently - hopefully by this time new roots will be forming.
A few years ago I had a Astrophytum capricorne almost totally consumed by internal rot. I did the above treatment and it survived - I was somewhat surprised - but today it is a large plant which flowers regularly.

And here it is today - 4 Oct 2015.

As for extracting the rotten cacti matter... Well that is up to you, potency can vary a ton though normally and has to do with age/ health of the plant too on top of genetics. So I would imagine even if you took the time to do a full extraction it may not be very worth it if at all. So I would say unless you know that cacti to be decently potent just toss it
