Cacti identification and grafting advice
    #22322540 - 10/02/15 08:15 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hi all,

I went to the cacti shop today in search for some stock cacti.
I saw 3 types that might do, but I wasn't sure which one's better for the task, so I bought one of each.

Can you guys help in identifying the species and telling me which one's (if not all) will be a good stock for grafting Lophs?

(I took 2 images of each)

Cactus 1-1
Cactus 1-2

Cactus 2-1
Cactus 2-2

Cactus 3-1
Cactus 3-2

Thanks

Numbers 1 and 3 are geometrizans myrtillocactus...or blue myrtle...very good graft stock. I almost exclusively use these...am breeding up quite a few.

Number 2 looks like a euphorbia to me... Euphorbia are NOT cacti, and cannot be grafted to. They are succulents. Poisonous to pets and children.

Number 2 is Euphorbia pseudocactus.

Number 2 is more likely Euphorbia Trigona.

Disagree - I have had both in my collection before I decided I did not have room for large Euphorbia like E. pseudocactus.

And that is what it is, IMHO.  E. trigona is a smaller, more squat species.
But seeing as I only have a couple of smaller Euphorbia in my collection now , I am not bothered to argue the point.

you disagree but you are not bothered to argue XD

Just the fact that E.Pseudocactus hasn't leaves should exclude it from the possibilities. Indeed E.trigona has leaves and totally looks like the one shown in the pics.

Just a reminder that the reason i posted here was not to disregard your ID, but to provide the correct ID to help OP
The fact that you may or may not be intrested in the correct ID is irrelevant to me.

And the Gif is because i really liked it and i never had a chance to post it. I do hope that it didin't hurt your feelings.
