Ahhhh! stupid me!

I birthed my cake one week ago, and I just did the dunk method last night. Now, you're only supposed to leave it for 12 hrs at birth, but stupid me I somehow thought it was 24 hours. I eventually took it out at about 18hrs, and it looked all messed up. The mycelium looks like white paint (picture a cake with white paint smeared all over it, that's exactly what it looks like) and in one part of the cake it lost like 75% of the mycelium, it's almost bare :frown:! Is my cake ruined or will it pull through?

Don't sweat the dunking time. SWIK dunks for 24 hours at birth and between flushes.

I don't get how there could be bare spots. If you split a cake you can see that the mycelium is actually the "glue" holding it all together, it's not just growing 'around' the substrate but 'through' it.

Bare spots sound like uncolonized substrate to me.

De-dunk them, roll them in vermiculite or a casing layer, and start poppung up shrooms!

Opinions are like assholes; everyone needs one or else they'd explode
