If that happened I too would agree it's fucked.
If they end up staying a lot longer than 72 hours in your local gym, I too would think that is fucked.
Also, I live in Canada. And I know what autumn is. That's why I never mentioned playing outside

I know you didn't. It was thebitterbuffalo26 who suggested I'd move my basketball acitivities to an outdoor facility. I just replied to everyone in one post. Well I tried. It ended up being two.

Not that I know of. But we don't have media like you guys that milk every murder and rape story. If someone gets shot you are lucky to hear anything about it in the media. Unless its like a child or a political/public figure or something.

Wow nobody over there wants to help others. Who would have thought socialism makes people intolerant and racist? Ironic. I guess we Americans aren't so bad.

Interesting point with the comics - I think it could also be said that for the amount of resources available to the land - Syria was vastly overpopulated and any powerful drought, and droughts do happen, climate change or no... especially in such an absurdly dry country, is sure to cause a lot of tumult... I mean jesus, does it look like there's enough arable land to feed/water 23 million people there?

I see water, no it's just sand, sorry. Thatcomic was enlightening, but a concrete reason sparking this hell for Syria doesn't make tjem any less part of a death cult. Leavimg theor homes because ofwar wont makethem change faith for the mostpart, unless Sam Harros greets every single one and discisses the merits of islam and secular values. It's so scary for Europe, and by extention the world since we hold some ok values. If we didn't tjen we wouldn't be commitong cultural suicide by being amazingly kind.

Wow. Theres a lot of really disgusting opinions in this thread.

I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

That is only for Cubans and it is totally for political anticommunist thumb in the eye reasons. They still get to pursue the same path as any legal immigrant but the distinction is that they are immediately granted legal status regardless of they got here.

Also @ the assumption that even 1% of the Syrian population has access to oil money.

Lol at trying to blame the Syrian civil war on a drought. Syria became unhinged because of radicals and people who oppose Assad. I'm sure if they had a real humanitarian problem with the drought they could have just gotten aid. Instead they start a civil war? doesn't make sense. If you can barely survive you aren't going to wage a war. That's not how war works because you need like food and water and supplies to keep your army going.

That's why you start the war, to take the food/water/supplies by force
Obviously it's not all because of a drought - no one was saying that. The drought however fomented a much more desperate atmosphere in the country and put people into direct confrontation with the government actively making peoples lives more difficult instead of trying to allay their problems.

They started a war because their leaders were hogging everything and leaving the populace to wallow in shit. He is also a murdering thug but the chance that somebody not a murdering thug will ever rule there is just about zero.

The Syrian crisis followed over a decade of drought, and the Euphrates river, the principle fresh water supply in Syria, running dry. The rural poor are driven to destitution as crops fail, and migrate into cities (IE: economic safehavens that can actually afford to import fresh water and food) by the millions. Most of them end up unemployed and living in miserable conditions. Thus you get millions of very, very angry people driven to desperate measures by hunger or thirst all slowly destabilizing the cities until they explode into whirlwind of carnage and brutality. Chances are we're gonna be seeing a lot of this over the next couple decades when the rest of the Middle East's water supplies start drying up.
Sudan's desertification is progressing rapidly. Iran's had a water crisis going on for quite awhile now. The Nile doesn't reach the sea sometimes...and if the Nile dries up then Egypt is going to erupt into a hellish uprising that makes the last one look like children fighting over a toy. Bangladesh...well when you have 160 million people running out of food and water there's gonna be a massive bloodbath or exodus. Even Pakistan and northern India are starting to face water issues.
@ all the brainwashed people in here saying it's because Muslims are inherently savage.
