Look at GE. Look at AOL. Look at Google.

These multinationals aren't just going to wake up one day and say "welp guys, solar power is now cheaper than gasoline, better shut down the business."

Fuck no, Shell would rather see the world burn than lose their market share, or transition into a different market using their billions upon billions in capital.

So incredibly naive...

Obviously you haven't taken any economics course yet. The free market fills in gaps automatically-does not depend on the bureaucratic government for action. This goes for energy sources as well.

What will Shell do when their market share drops? "Burn the world"? LOL, kid, the Shell company employs 92,000 people around the world. For a comparison-there are 35 Million people around the world infected with AIDS-and there are 2,711,000 us federal employees.

What will the gov' do without that tax money?

So Shell having a shitload of employees and much needed tax revenue is going to make them disappear easier?

Thanks for strengthening my point.

Of course its hypothetical. I would think that would be obvious. We're talking about the future here. We could all be dead by that time. An asteroid could hit. WW3 could happen. Nobody knows.

This scenario, is simply what is projected by scientists, engineers, and "technologists" that are working on the 3D printers. If all goes well, and the world goes on, this is going to happen. There is no stopping it. Shell and big oil and walmart and most of the megacorps, are all living on borrowed time. Nothing lasts forever, they're not all powerful, and their fate is set. They're not entirely ignorant, they know they have to adapt to change. But that is not always an option. Sometimes your industry is just finished, and that's that. Just look at what the internet did to the paper industry. Just look.

Its still there, but at a fraction of its former size. Its maybe 1/100th of what it was. Will we still need lubricants? Sure. Shell may still be there to supply them, for a time. But that's about it. Gasoline, is starting to fade, as we speak. Look at Tesla motors. Look at the nissan leaf. Look at all the electric cars, coming out in 2016 and 2017. Open your eyes.

And this is natural. This is the way its supposed to be. This is the way of the free market. Companies are supposed to be born, they live, and they die. They can extend this, by changing completely, like nintendo for a random example. They used to make playing cards. But they are only going to live so long, and that's that. They always eventually get replaced with something a lot better for everyone.

You're assuming that 3D printers will just erase intellectual property laws.

But the internet didn't do that. There's still a huge media industry out there.

Like I said, these corporations aren't just going to take it lying down, the same way that the MPAA is getting legislation like the DMCA passed.

Hahaha, and just look how well that's going for them. More data was pirated in 2014 than any other year. You think that number is going to EVER go down?

Plus that's with something that you can't deny was created by someone else. With a 3D printer, a small change is all that's necessary. Also you seemed to forget that I said you'll be able to download the file for the printer.

Freeware is all over the place even now, getting files people created that people just want to share for the 3D printer will be commonplace. Just look at the Android app store for proof. Excuse me, the "google marketplace". Maybe if you want it to print that super badass, fancy item, you'll have to pay something. But we were never talking about that. We were always talking about the poor having their needs met, throughout this whole conversation. That type of file will be free, and anyone can create the file from scratch. Just like photoshop. No copyright infringement on freely given shit.

So for the last time, there won't be any poor people. You won't be able to be poor. You may not be rich, but you certainly won't be poor. No one will. And then finally, the death of socialism. (in government)

I'm actually pro socialism, when it has no place in government. When its all completely voluntary, instead of forced on you, on threat of imprisonment like it is now.

Socialism without government is called communism.

And are the poor going to be able to 3D print food and shelter? How bout health insurance?

LOL

For someone who claims to hate socialism you sure do appreciate the fruits of its labor. You do realize Telsa Motors received billions of dollars in US taxpayer welfare? As do most car industries that "go green". I thought you hated welfare? LOL You do realize that it's socialism that's causing gasoline to fade, it's socialism pushing the world in the direction of solar energy? Socialism is literally responsible for manipulating the marketplace and drawing attention to businesses like Telsa Motors.

Socialism is also responsible for the surge of technology that you're wet dreaming about. There's no such thing as a free market, we've been living in a socialistic society for the past 40 years. Where have you been?

See this robot?

Socialism made it.

Darpa is a social program funded by Government subsidies... aka welfare.

I already covered all of that for you, several times. Go back and reread. You still aren't getting it. Try not smoking weed before you comment. Its not doing you any favors.

Go back and reread. And when you do, please cite specifically, where I said anything even remotely resembling "I appreciate the fruits of its labor". Not that it actually has any fruits, as it only wastes, but still. Never said anything like that. Are you another "The ecstatic"? Blindly making assumptions, and putting words in people's mouths?

I merely said what is happening. I made no reference to any form or fashion of an opinion on that subject. As for socialism being responsible for the "surge of technology", (it isn't one) I'm afraid that you're woefully ignorant, just like the others of your ilk. I'm against government handouts to corporations too. That would include Tesla.

Honda has been granted hundreds of millions of dollars in US subsidies over the past couple of decades. If it wasn't for socialized welfare, Honda wouldn't be the company it is today. Of course you'd know this if you would have received a higher education.

You're living proof we need Socialism to provide free high education learning to all American citizens.

I guess you're another one that I'll have to keep proving wrong. I noticed you didn't reply to me pointing out your blind assumptions in my last post. Government grants aren't socialism. Derrrrrp. Its a government grant. Big difference. I see that you also conveniently left out the vast majority of companies that receive NO money, other than what they earned on their own. But those don't count right?

1) Honda had to pay back the money 2) Darpa did not pay back any money.

We already have a socialist school system, kiddo. I assume that you went-which is the problem; kids like you can't grasp the difference between public and private spending.

The government really is a sort of God to these people. Its really sad. That's why I can't wait until technology kills most of it like I talked about in the OP.

You're right on man. There are even systems that we could implement today to remove the overpaid, inefficient, corrupted, government middle man.

>So what about all the failed communist governments all over the world?

All of them have failed, none of them work and none of them are actually communist. Communism does not work because without govt, people take advantage of the system and either a dictator takes over or they go to capitalism and limited democracy. The nutsy liberals still think communism works even though it never has.

Not just 3d printers but synthesizers will become common. Garbage to food will be a 20 minute process rather than going to compost, then growing plants and so on. Everything will be recycled. Your underground cubicle will seem as big as a castle with virtual reality. You will visit all parts of the world, the solar system and maybe other planets and imaginary worlds via vr.

--------------------
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

As technology has expanded so have governments.

Yet you seem dead certain that this trend will reverse. Bless your heart.
