Spore printing how mature should fruit be?

Just like the title says I'm looking to get a print from my harvest when is the best time to do this? Or does it not really matter? Things I've been wondering should it be taken from a fruit during first flush second flush 3rd etc or does it not really matter?
Also how long do I let it mature for before plucking do I wait for the cap to open all the way half way or right when the veil breaks?
Basically what's your thoughts on the best time to take a cap and print it?

Flush doesn't matter, i print mine as soon as i see mature spores in the veil, i try to keep the veil intact if possible

So I've waited until the cap is almost flat and right before it's flat and no matter what I can't get any prints could I have a mono that doesn't sporulate?

Depends. What strain do u have? I got penis envy and didnt even bother trying to get spores from them cuz none had purple gills. Not all spores are purple though so you might see a different colour on yours. If the gills are white or a bit off white chances are they are sterile. Or so I read, I dont have much experience yet.

Yes the gills are off white so far :/ I'm cutting the caps off with a xacto knife and placing it onto a square foil piece and then folding it over onto the top of the cap then folding all the sides to encase the cap in foil and waiting 24hrs these are bht or bth variety comes from a Asian country I got prints from the first batch when it was a syringe this batch is from agar and because of my poor understandin on agar work I didn't label them at all so it could be from a agar from clone of first batch or it could be agar from the spore print I got off the last batch.

Also I found a tek for extracting spores from penis envy which seems pretty fool proof if your shrooms have spores but wont drop prints. (P.E are notoriously sterile and even those that have spores don't like to drop them)
You get a inoculation syringe fill it with water decapitate a shroom and place cap upside down. Then you inject the water all around the gills and pull it back up for a few times. After it turns to whatever colour your spores are you make a cup shaped piece of foil and put the spore water in it and let it dry out. According to the author you dont even have to work in a SAB cuz contams cant spread when dry. Although I would reccomend using a SAB if you do MS instead of agar. Better safe than sorry.

Could just clone it, sounds like your already working with agar?
Maybe let them go longer and see if they ever start dropping spores? I've taken prints from tops that have already started dropping.

Sounds crazy pouring the syringe out to dry. Contams can often be in the form of spores also.

i like to cut the caps for printing just before the veil breaks. this way you can be sure that what is beneath the veil is clean.
other then that i would say when a cap is wide enough to make a nice large print, it is also mature enough to drop spores.
