Hey let's argue for a while, rofl.
I used to think it was genetics too brother. Why I had perfect health, why I got every answer right at school - etc. etc., I almost brought this up in reply to your previous post.
However that's just not the case - anyone can be healed, and anyone can reach the highest level of love and understanding.
When you see it, you will know. When I saw someone that no one - in a million years, would ever think could - reach that level, that's when I knew. All the previous ideas went out the window.
And you know what we are doing right now? Arguing. . . ?
Peace.

there are four behaviors in this life :
things that are good for us that we like, things good for us we don't like things bad for us we like things bad for us we don't like,
etc.

It's genetics and culture. You may be able to choose within the types of things you're interested in. But you do not choose your tastes any more than you choose your face.
that might explain why i like things that one has to be very careful of.

Makes sense. Although if I was culture and genetics, how does that explain why my family loves sports and I hate them? Or why I like any type of music that sounds good even though surrounded by pop.

Look, you're a wombat.
Look, you're an eagle.
Look, I'm a wombat.
Look, I'm an eagle.
DQ - I gave you a huge clue - our tastes are determined by what we felt when we experienced them for the first time. This is known.
This is related to quantum entanglement - which, is indeed a real thing.
Knowing this fact - which is quite priceless, though you seem to not know - you can indeed choose what you like.
Your view is - the crust tastes awful, it will always taste awful, nothing I can do about it.
My life has been - it's absolutely delicious, both crust and the soft bread - there's no coarse or fine.
I might ask you whether you think hard drugs are better than soft drugs, heh - because in our society that is what is legal.

Good! Good. Yes - very good, and generally I should only reply to what is worthwhile to reply to. And also - argument in general not worth our time, hehe. . . but this is a sober discussion. . . or - enlightened discussion, for the most part.
At least, such is my faith. . .
As I was saying - very good. You dislike sports because you have made that choice. As have I.
Also - my father shared this view with me, to a good degree. . . yet the silliness of sports are pretty good. . .
Perhaps you like nature more than sports and you notice we're losing a lot of species every day, or other things --
and spending time in senseless distraction is actually a calamity. . . throwing a party while the world burns,
or maybe it is another reason. . but in general - each generation is more well-balanced than the previous one. . .
This is just a general trend, not a hard and fast, absolute fact.

Yeppers but we choose, this is again the main point, and it keeps coming back to. To say that one cannot choose what one likes
is similar to saying we can't choose what we think, feel, do, or act - just do something - and eventually you'll like doing it. You can definitely choose what you like.

Or let me just clarify -
You do choose what you feel, what you think, what you do, and what you act. It may take a while before more complete self-control is attained, but such self-control is very possible. Innumberable examples show this - Socrates, an old Greek, is one who is a good example of how to go about attaining this - as are most of the good ones from every culture around the globe.
To reach that level - the first step is to accept responsibility for life. . then, immediately, life becomes much easier. . . It might seem counter-intuitive - if I accept responsibility for all the details of my life, wouldn't that give me a greater burden?
But it's actually the opposite - suddenly, a great weight is lifted and I am free to move about, because I am not hindered by others' perceptions - beliefs - desires, and what not. Others' thoughts, to put it another way.
Later on, the higher levels of inter-play and inter-dancing are seen, felt and experienced, but that first level is the important step.

rofl - what is arguing except trying to coerce ? coercion is almost evil brother. . . that's why I say arguing is not worth our time. As I have no wish to bother you, I withdraw.

argument by its basic nature is pretty much wrongness - a desire to coerce, impress upon another one's will.
As my definition of good and evil is what is good is what does good for mother earth, and what is evil is what does harm to mother earth, we do not really have much to talk about -
I also much prefer your happiness, to my being right.
So - Peace.

Why do we like what we like... ?
Well its in the essence of a thing itself..for example..the qualities of sex..we find that when a certain image or stimulus is presented..it naturally manufactures the qualities of happiness..like, attachment..fulfillment..and physiologically the necessary feelings of pleasure..for a man which would include an erection, and for a woman a stimulated or hardening of the clitoris..and lubrication of the vagina...
So for example..these are inherent in the stimulus itself..which here to for figures in as a specific reaction which is primal..and thus manifests based only on the specific connections thus...
So in other terms..we like things because they can be attached in a way that is meaningful and is supplied...in a ratio that we can actually understand..and the fuel with as a vehicle of attachment..which usually includes pleasure and stimulation of various kinds..so the things we like are things that fit with who we are..both as a subjective notion of personality..and the objective notion of our body in relation to space..and our mind in relation to the autonomy of our being..and place in existence...
So the things we like do indeed have a fitting and therefore prime place in our very reality..in which we are receptive..but also forcing..of some particularity..or specific set of things..or things..as an array the things we like are most likely to be clear for us to channel..in response to others and ourselves..in our relations there in are usually with things we like!

I know the feeling, dear friend. . all comes and goes. .
it's possible to leave such so far behind, it becomes quite literally nothing;
and possible to reach any state of consciousness you wish to -
just gotta know who your friends are, that's main -
friends who are worth all your h'art are rare -
yet the only kind worth having really. .
the only kind i ever consider my friend,
yet also, by my nature, always open to all,
so it's sort of a eternal rise and fall of everything. .
anyway i do understand you completely - remember, our kids gotta live here. . .
peace and love, dear thanatos.
jake out. well, in a little bit.
