Top layer of substrate past field capacity? Mini-mono Coir/Verm/Coffee/WBS MS grow log

I just spawned my first mini mono as a trial run before going to a larger mono tub. I followed Damion5050's Coir Tek but halved all measurements for my mini, and i also added 1/2 quart used coffee grounds which were dried/PC'd prior to adding to the sub mix for pasteurizing.
After mixing the sub/spawn in the tub, I went to add the top layer of sub and the bottom bit of sub left in the bucket seemed very wet. I squeezed and more water came out than a few drops, and I now know this is a problem as it is more than field capacity. At the time I was worried about it being too wet but I didn't know and the few teks i was referencing didn't mention anything about field capacity or water level.
So after a lot more reading now i realize i have a problem. Should i mix in dry verm or try to remove the top layer and redo it? Or is it too late to do anything now?
I think the mixed/bottom layer may be ok - it seemed like the sub in the bottom of the bucket was waterlogged from sitting for a few hours while the top portion wasn't so saturated.
I spawned the tub about 12 hours ago.
Thanks
-Edit/Relevant measurements-
2.25 quarts water 1/2 brick coir 1 quart verm 1/2 quart coffee 2 quarts spawn (WBS/Treasure Cost MS)
31 quart tub

When I squeeze a handful of substrate I get a very small stream. Maybe a teaspoon of water will come out. Field capacity is a good set standard for people to go by. I also don't use a standard mono either. What work for one my not work for you. Good luck

The bucket tek is not proper pasteurization. Coffee grounds require proper pasteurization, not the bucket tek, and not sterilization followed by exposure to open air.
I have a feeling this will be the tubs downfall...

Yea that sounds like the same level of water I had with my sub. Thanks for the input.

Ah, shit... was worried about the coffee after reading some more comments saying people have troubles with it, but then other responses saying that coffee is no prob as long as your spawn is good. Never saw anything about not using grounds with the bucket method though.. well i guess not much i can do about it now but wait and see
chalk it up to learning i suppose...
Been growing for quite a long time but had an extended break and just getting back into swing. Had never done a monotub yet tho, looks like the way to go if i can get it right

Update
Day 15
Day 17

Was unexpectedly rushed when prepping the tub, but since the process was already in motion couldn't stop, so skipped the trash bag liner inside. Got a good amount of side pinning and will definitely do the liner next time. Not the pin set I'd hoped for but still happy the tub made it through to fruiting

Nice job. Fruits look like they could use more fresh air though.

Thanks, yea my holes weren't really sized properly due to the drill bit not working right. Wasn't really drilling holes at all and instead was just cracking the hell out of my tub, so I just had to improvise. Now that I know you can just heat up a pipe/can and use that to make the holes, I'll do that next time and hopefully that will work a lot better for proper FAE
