How long from spawning to casing? You cased after pins?

14 days from spawn to full colonization. Then cased with a seed started mix 2"depth(opened vents). 8 days to see pinning and 4 days in from pinning

Might add. This is a 5Qt5Qt5Qt mix of Hpoo/Coir/Verm with a fist full of gyp for every tub.

14 days colonization is a long time. If you read this thread, it's really about shortening the time line. My tub was not only fully colonized, but was pinning at 7 days

This is the thread I've been looking for
This is my first monotub/grow ever and it's been ten days colonising with holes taped up. Now it's not fully colonised but by reading this thread it appears that it don't matter if I introduce fruiting conditions, i.e polyfill holes and add light now as it appears you can do that right from spawning.
So I'll be doing that later and let's see if we get any pins and how fast (if at all)
Thankyou,this has been informative
Edit - it's about 95% colonised at present

If I can give my two cents, PE is a very stable strain!

That might have been true once but PE is actually destabilizing to the point where some people are actively trying to source older genetics in an attempt to get genetics that were more stable from the lineage. PE in its heyday didn't make blobs, didn't need to be cased, pinned faster, and did not have blobbing issues. These recent traits are evident of a lineage that is coming apart quite quickly.

Really, the myc of PE seem so much more vigorous and strong than other 'normal' cubes.

hey az, when you did your uncased GT tubs like this (poly during colonization), did you use a top layer of CVG? if so, how thick?

quick update because i don't have time. but here is one of the AA+ tubs. im fruiting all of these tubs with medium stuffed polyfil. i won't be loosening any top holes or anything. the polyfil was stuffed in at spawning and will remain exactly the same through ought fruiting and harvest. this is the old way ive always used. which hasn't ever caused an issue in the last 15 years.
P. Tamps

AA+
 pe uncased(going to fruit uncased)

anyway all the tubs of AA+ look like that. also note these were all done with cornmeal plate liquid inoculation. running several experiments at once right now.

Ain't it a bitch when you're running an experiment and either vert or blotch gets ya?
One a good note, other tub has not pinned yet. I'll be continuing this thread as i progress.

what am I looking at? the discolored fruits in the middle?
Either way, I consider the experiment a success. I'd like to see it repeated uncased and with or without a top layer though.
I spawned & cased a tub of PE yesterday and put it into fruiting immediately. But I don't feel like documenting it since it's MS and I don't have a control tub too. I'm just curious if it'll fruit ok with it being so low maintenance.
