Well pins are here for my 4 mini monos. These ones I had stuck to the tek and cased at spawning. No blobs at all in the peat tubs and only a few blobs in the coir. Plan will be to take a clone of both a blob and a normal PE to perform tests
Coir/Verm

Jiffy mix and verm

The only thing that sux is the casing gets completely colonized. Given how dry it is I have been having to mist a fair bit to get the pinset in. Should be good to go now I think.
Oh and some APE. Stubborn clone that would take a month to pin after colonizing that took 3 weeks from spawn run. Sweet.

Props to azur

Have you tried applying a second layer of casing once the first on hits 100% to help retain moisture and keep up the surface humidity? My peat has never contaminated on me, though I do use quite a lot of hydrated lime (1/2 cup for 4qt peat.) Personally I haven't but my ambient rH is like 40-70%, so in my situation it would make more mess than it's worth.
My lime may be weak though. I haven't checked with pH strips cause I've never had a problem. Brand is Bonide.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Wtf. This method is bonkers. My subs will be 100% tomorrow evening. 7 days from spawn. Is there such thing as a shroomery award? You deserve it azur.

How many considerable flushes does one get out of this method? Ie is flush two worth the wait or has the mycelium consumed the bulk of the sub to the point that it's worthwhile or not to toss the tub?

Since is brings on a generally less even and smaller (by some reports) first flush with a less colonized sub, I'd imagine the second flush is pretty good. IDK though, need look through the results and try it myself.

Pins in 9 days, first harvest in 14. Cold temps kept them growing slowly. They're small but I'm almost certain that's genetics. I love them

Machiavelliavore said: I've done grass seed slurry. It's fast. My grass seed is quite high in endospores. Not sure how much I trust it. I would definitely want to do a boil, 10 hour wait period, and then PC half a pint for 90 minutes at least. I think it grows the most mycellium of any grain.
I like to G2G transfers with grass seed, which works great, but have never tried a slurry. Gonna have to try that!
I prep my seed in a similar fashion to Violet's methods and PC for 2 hours and haven't had an endospore problem.

Some good info there. (and great photos of proper grain moisture)
Hey, is there a way to bookmark or in some way save a thread to refer to later?
Other than copying and pasting it into a Word doc, lol
I see members post in a thread specifically so it's on their thread list, so I assume not . . .

I'm not quite sure what azur plans on doing with it but he may have it posted in mush cult at some point in time. He may not want anybody to post non informational stuff in it until it's finished so I wpuld ask him first.

They were such a bitch to harvest. Ended up literally just "plucking" them right off the mycelial mat, if I tried to pull any deeper it would pull the entire cluster, all the pins, and some mega substrate. Still going to end up with an oz dry and I barely took 10% of the fruits. Gonna let some mature for spore prints, I really like these genetics.

Are you growing them in a small tub? When I get dense clusters like that, I take a straight razor blade and start from the outside and work my way in while cutting them off as close to the substrate as possible. Otherwise, I just use a twist and pull method.

Not terribly large, 55q, taller than it is wide unfortunately. Not the best tub but it works. I'm just going to use my razor and chop em out.

Killer tub r3dz, very cool shape, hope you can preserve those genetics.

Made 5 clones! The genetics are definitely very awesome, especially the very few nipple shaped caps that showed up. I wish they were taller/larger but maybe some second flush fruits will be.
