Not only is it good for the cubies but it will be better for you and your family. Homes with rh at 40-50% spend less money on their heating bill and it's also better on your lungs.
This is definitely the driest I have ever seen it and it correlates with how I remember it feeling last year. My kid's allergist cautioned us on getting a humidifier because of her allergies. He said that if we lived in a drier climate he might encourage it but that it might attract the allergens that drive her crazy. This summer I had a reusable HEPA filtration system installed with out A/C unit because her allergies were out of control. Someone comes out every 3 months to clean it. Things have finally quieted down.
The local weather says the rh is at 45%. It's baffling how there can be such a difference indoors, but my meter is calibrated and should be accurate. I'm going to toss it outside to see what the difference is.
I do mist my tubs but haven't while they are colonizing. I figured since that is a pinning trigger that I shouldn't? Taping the holes up fixed the issue.

I don't think he thinks it's from the humidifier, per say. But rather the potential environment a humidifier creates.
She's doing so well now I'm hesitant to change anything up. Poor kid got her dad's shit allergies.

i know some people who take reishi for allergies, dunno if u would be into trying that if it seems like she's already on the up and up.

Yes! I'm actually waiting on a reishi culture as we speak. I can't wait to give it a go.

best thing for allergies is local honey a tsp a day or so. unpasteurized is best And the honey comb is yum. But this def. is something that isn't a quick fix.

It doesn't work for everyone though, I know a guy with allergies and loves local uncooked honey, it doesn't help him even though he's been taking it for a long time.

And some people are allergic to honey. Sucks! She doesn't have any food allergies. It's all environmental and it is getting better as she ages. My son doesn't have a single allergy and neither do I really. Other than sensitive skin.
We did allergy testing last year and she is allergic to every plant, tree, and weed she was tested for n our region. I'm not even sure how that is possible but it explains why she sounds like Darth Vader when she sleeps.

I've been getting allergy shots for the past 3 years. Cured as far as I know. I still go because it's only $15 a month for me.

@numerouno, think I should throw a 'second' casing mixture on top, like jiffy mix?
BTW, this is MS PE. It was was spawned straight bucket pasteurized CVG(~ 1:1) , casing layer applied immediately. I am starting to see what appear to be hyphal knotting. Born 12/4 Approx 2.5 qt WBS spawned into a 30qt mini mono.

Any suggestions vets? Let it rock on ?
Trich likes a CO2 rich climate, so that may have something to do with it.
id let it be. you can mist your casings once a day. ive actually been doing twice a day with the pe variety.

Kalistis said: I was following this method with 2 tubs for 6 days until I noticed how much dryer the subs of the untapped tubs were than the taped. My house is very very dry right now and may not have been the best time to try this out. I taped the holes up 24 hours ago and already the areas that appeared very dry and uncolonized are recovering.
mist your casings once a day. there is some discussion earlier in the thread by pasty, azur and i about dry climates causing issues with loose poly. you may need to tighten the poly if you have a heater going and its drying out the tub. for me, im in a humid environment and 50% rh year round. so it works perfectly for me and i don't need to dial in any polyfil.
here is an update. im finally able to take prints tonight. for AA+ they are a little slow and it takes roughly 18 days from spawn to harvest with the case at spawning on my last batch. this batch was spawned on 11-30-2015. so were at 16 days. not the fastest ive had, but good speed. i still haven't beat my 12 days to harvest yet with slurry to bulk.

here is my AA+ thread grow. please feel free to join in if you have any AA+.
