Ah ha. Shweet. I found a few bags of pe spawn i forgot about. I'm going to build a tub with just wettened coir/verm. No heat treatment at all. Should work right? Thinking about doing a simple tek. Pf cakes to untreated coir/verm. Would be easy for retarded noobs.

It will have a hard time colonizing untreated coir. It won't contam tho.

Why? I don't heat treat my coir/verm casings and the myc destroys it

The lignin is broken down by the heat, releasing the cellulose. Agaricales can colonize lignin but most species have a hard time breaking it down. Coir has a fair amount of lignin. At any rate you have some aggressive cultures to easily colonize untreated coir. I know Muda used untreated coir for casing so it wouldn't get eaten.

Trying it out with 2 tubs. Keeping top holes tight until they start pinning.

Sorry for slightly offtopic, but pasty:
Do you just do up large batches of coir with boiling water hydration, then just fill up a PC with the coir in no bags suspended over the wrack (maybe with a bit of wire mesh) and PC what, 90 mins?
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

I usually just do the bucket tek for 66 quart tubs. I also do the bucket for casing etc and just leave in the bucket. For mini monos etc I will hydrate a brick and pack into jars, a brick with 2 quarts verm easily fits into 6 quart jars when packed. Then I sterilize a dozen up and store until needed. It won't go bad.

Here's an AA+ mini without a liner. I'll toss some pasteurized Jiffy on there tomorrow or the next day.

A quart of Jiffy should be enough to cover this 20 gal mini, right?

Here is some Koh Samui Super growing like a normal cube. genetics from the man. fruiting well. came to find out one of the poly holes was out and had some drying on the left side of the tub. didn't find out until it was a little late lol

Well azur ain't here but I will update the tub I am currently running this with. Seems to be blobbing out. Also is putting off so much heat that I got the top holes open and the lid on at an angle I took the poly out 3 days ago and that sub is still soaked.
Next time I do this I shall be prepared with some peat casing ready to roll from spawn run. See if that is the difference maker. Probably do a few different things to see what works best.
For now tho I bet it is a blob fiesta. Hope I see a few normals. Despite it being ms, the same LC was used to inoculate some v tek which were cased with coir. Not one blob This makes me think its not just FAE, its not just consolidation, and its not just genetics. Something is at play and it seems certain that blobbing is a response to something or combination of things.

Hmm, have you ever gotten blobs from v-tek? I think she's stated she hasn't.
I wonder if it has something to do with a stark difference in nutrition between the substrate and the casing. Ever tried using a frosting layer under the casing? That might emulate the v-tek conditions a bit more?
Not that I know dick about PE
Hahhaha azur has to read the offtopic discussion and eat it
