a 2nd flush. tub was at the bottom of the stack and wasn't getting the best airflow. ive turned the fan on a higher setting today. top tubs are doing well but they are currently fruiting so i put the 2nd flushes on the bottoms. i harvested last flush and just misted once. and didn't check the tub until today.

ive always thought this to be true. one more step. but i also tried taping holes or using magnets for the last 2 years just to find out for myself. it does add a bunch more work to make those magnets. i can simply skip that step and go right to poly. and depending on the airflow your pushing in the grow room, if its a light mild airflow you can feather in the top holes. if its a faster airflow you can keep them all in medium. i run a little faster airflow in my setups. and id like to skip the step of adjusting anything until its time to harvest. i have double the free time now. thanks to azur with this spawn at casing!

what are you using for airflow azur?

i got close to 8z dry in each of my AA plus multispore tubs using the polyfil during colonization. and 2nd flush on the first tub looks to be about 4 by eye.

i had a small amount of dung in the mix. i plan on doing a 50/50 dung/verm sub next for old times sake.

Well that experiment went down the drain in a hurry. 3/4 of the tubs (2 untaped, 1 taped) were spotted with slightly larger than pin size spots of trich. I didn't catch it on agar, first generation grain or 2nd generation grain but shows up right at the very end of colonization. It's weird because I watch my jars like a hawk. I would definitely spot it before the myc would ever have a chance to colonize over it.

All done with cornmeal plate liquid inoculation prepped grain. Initially tubs 1-4 had diffused natural daylight and were moved into direct 6500k light. probably a little too late.
Tub 1: AA+
     Tub 2: AA+

Tub 3: AA+

Tub 4: AA+

Round 2: Day 4
Tub 5: AA+

Tub 6:AA+

Tub 7: Penis Envy Clone

Tub 8: AA+

Hey thanks azur for trying and sharing this.
Going to write a tek about this? I read the thread, it need more info regarding people who isn't growing PE.
What I understood, correct me if Im wrong. If using another cube this is the settings:
- Do NOT need casing - NO fan in the room - Fruit condition at colonization phase

Your welcome, and thank you. A little off though. If you are not growing a pe variety, i suggest no casing. Fruit it at spawning, just like this thread demonstrates. And a fan is really dependant of a few things. I think mainly how many tubs you have in the room. If you only have a few tubs, a fan isn't really necessary. But if you have 15 or more, i definitely recommend a fan. Also, where you live matters. If you live in a dry climate, i would not use a fan and if it's humid where you are, run the fan

That's what's happening to me. azur, do you case again if it eats the spawn casing or leave it?

No. Let it be. It will eat the casing. Just mist it if it starts to dry out.
Built an ass of tubs tonight. I'll document 4 of them. All pe. Oats to hpoo/verm cased with course vermiculite and coir. Casing not pasteurized.

Not at the moment. The last 30 or so bags had so many fucking twigs in em i put the other 20 bags i have in storage. My next set of tubs I'm going to mix my own "jiffy" with peat, lime, and verm. Jiffy is great stuff when they care about quality. But all those twigs are a great dinner for trich

Yeah that blows! It's nice with coir too that you don't have to pasteurize!

Definitely. I'm not going to pasteurize the peat casings i make either. Hopefully that works out. And i think the course vermiculite will be a winner as it creates mini peaks and valleys in the casing

For awhile all I could get was coarse verm and I think it worked better for monos than the fine. Never tried it for a casing though.

I use fine for subs. In stamets books he recommends course for casings, so I'm giving it a whirl

If you can find it locally, coarse verm over fine verm all day long.
