I rarely get sick, but I do have chronic digestive & sinus issues. Here is what I keep in my (mostly) herbal medicine chest:
Chamomile tincture for stomach upset/heartburn/indigestion, also great topically for pimples, and small cuts Baking soda for same (this is for extreme cases, the sodium content is so high you don't want to make this one a habit, but it helps when I have my really bad stomach episodes) Can't live w/o my digestive enzymes & probiotics (see a theme developing here? I've got a really sensitive stomach!) Ginger for nausea Ibuprofen for menstrual pain and occasionally for my sinus pressure/pain Simethicone (Gas X) Aloe Vera Gel Lavender Essential Oil - a drop or two of this on a hot wash cloth draped over my face is EXTREMELY soothing to my sinuses Saline Spray/Neti Pot

Word. My boyfriend HATES it but when the flu was taking out his office he was completely unaffected. There's a couple of recipes for it online so try whatever sounds good until you find something you like.
I happen to like the taste but YMMV.

80-100mg acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) a day has a blood thinning effect which over timeb makes heart attacks, strokes and embolisms less likely.

True, and it also lowers the risk of cancer, bowel and other forms of cancer. It won't do much for embolisms far as I know but its a darn good thing to take. You can find deals on baby aspirin for less than a cent each. I used to chop up big ones but its easier if they are already made.

We are talking about low dose baby asperin. 1-2 per day. My doctor does the same. I also take High Blood Pressure Medication--which is doing great thanks to Lisinapril and a low sodium diet, I realy do feel better than I have in a long time---but when I go to my scheduled appointment the very first question he asksme is not, "Are you still taking your medication", or how I am doing on my diet but it is allways "Your still taking a baby asperin everyday arent you." The dude is religious about it.
