Everyone check this out I have a couple questions
    #22315275 - 09/30/15 05:17 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Ok I have a couple of questions regarding what to do with some of my specimens and I want everyone's ideas no matter what they are "nothing will be looked over".

Anyways I've been looking at all of my grafts recently and I seem to have an UNGODLY amount of some very interesting "growth patterns and all" plants. I was wondering since I have sooooo many what should I do with them?

1. Bring them in for dormancy "they're still attached to peres mostly"?

2. Cut them allowing them to callous and allowing the peres to grow allowing for more root stock?

3. Cut them above the base allowing them to callous for planting next year "I think with everything cooling off as it is I'd have troubles rooting in this season" and allowing the base to pup making clones of the original seedling graft? I think this method would increase my collection to a point that would be impossible to care for well.

4. Cutting above the base allowing it to pup and callousing the original plant for sale to make some cash to allow for upgrades next year "like a new greenhouse, ferts, better organic pesticides ect. you all know what's needed to care well for these plants? or trading them down the road for other plants I really wanna get my hands on?

BTW I'm not talking about doing so here on the forum. Just wondering what you guys would do if these were all yours "especially since I don't know how these grafts with peres will do attached during the winter"?

Also any other ideas are welcomed:grin:

This is just some of what I have. there are others I have yet to take pics of:nonono: Also I have a bunch of loph grafts that I'm planning to slice and allow to pup.

My second question is this.

I'm planning to cut this TBM and root the top portion but there are no areoles on this plant whatsoever so where the hell would "or could" it even pup from?

Third question is

Why are the new leaves on my Coffee arabica plant yellow like this?

Also here are the arabica seedlings I grew "1 has died" in case anyone wanted to see them. No question involved here.

Forth question

Here is my Echinocactus "dominos". Does anyone else own this cactus and has anyone collected pollen from it or have pollinated the flowers and ended up with seeds?

Ok I'll cut it here for now but I still have other questions that I'll add later on if I don't find the answer myself.

I wouldn't cut anything right now, hoping to root next year. The cutting will slowly dehydrate over winter and when spring comes they will be in not-so-great condition. Better to wait for late winter and cut then - maybe it kickstarts the rootstock as well, Peres is slow to wake up.

I know next to nothing about TBM, but I think it mostly sprouts from tissue embeded in the plant, not from areoles. But don't quote me on this...

Yellowing leaves is a pretty vague sign, and may even be perfectly natural. I don't think there's nothing wrong with your plant, they look pretty normal for young leaves. How are the lower leaves?

Your EchinoPSIS is probably self-sterile, you need another plant to polinize it (any Echinopsis / Trichocereus / Lobivia will probably do)
