Beginning the spiritual path again * 1
    #22315003 - 09/30/15 04:21 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Today has been a good day and I feel the time has come to rededicate myself to the spiritual path more earnestly then ever before.

I started by meditating today and will continue meditating daily as much as possible .

I also bought some incence and will burn it while worshipping at my altar which I also intend to do every day whenever possible.

I also emailed my ayahuasca Shaman and decided to participate in my fourth ceremony asap.

I also decided to proceed with becoming a mason. And I emailed the O.T.O and looked up the golden dawn to see about membership.

I will also dedicate my cannabjs use entirely to ritual , ceremonial and sacramental purposes like the Hindu Shaivites who smoke ganja all day as part of their spiritual pay and Bhakti worship and yoga.

I will also resume daily or almost daily yoga classes, chant prayers and mantras every Time I am in the shower, go to church and take communion on Sunday, and/or go to an ISKON kirtan. I emailed iskon about getting involved.

I will also resume attending dharma centre and Buddhist sangha and practice , and resume the reading of spiritual literature beginning with Koran.

I will do all this and more and firmly and completely dedicate my life and my identity to the spiritual path and all its forms and manifestations.

Finally I will resume keeping a dream journal and practicing lucid dreaming with discipline.

I am going all in.

Do you prescribe to any particular religion? I'm just curious because you mention Buddhism and the Koran and you have pictures of Ganesh and shiva (?)

That sounds very busy. Try not to forget the part where you live your life.

Remember, living well is also walking upon the spiritual path.

He who digs many holes will never find water, he who chases two rabbits will catch neither one, etc. Pick one path and go all in. Better yet, burn it all and get naked.

Many have errored in their thinking when they think "works" will "save them". Sure all the things you mentioned have value, but in my very limited experience, spirituality is about a relationship with the divine within, not perfection on this plane.

Again, I am not saying your plan is bad. You practice a lot of the things I am interested in. I just don't think it will necessarily get you where you want to be or keep you there. It is almost like another form of religion, if you dig? It's a regiment. What happens if you forget, become less interested, or fall into temptation? Does that mean you Love any less?

Perhaps it's also true, "all things work towards the greater Good" ...

This one is something I think about at times: Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight (proverbs 3:6)

Again I don't want to appear judgmental, as I am a young man learning myself, just another thought to consider.

Peace be with you! :heartpump:

Don't give yourself a hard time if you skip one or two or seven items on the list. Judging from how much you ask of yourself, you sound like you might be prone to beating yourself up over "slacking". Be gentle.

With all due respect Moonshoe, reading your list almost gave me a panic attack.

Take it easy, my man. Don't put so much pressure on yourself.

Maybe find what is sustainable and stick with that?

Moon; funny you are picking up the hippie lifestyle again. IMO I wouldnt force myself to commit to any specific "Way". I personally have just started with yoga and meditation every morning. From there, I tryr and play guitar and read daily. Sometimes that is put on the back burner because I have to apply for jobs and such:shrug:

Also, I find all religions are related to a ridiculous extent. They are all pointing to the same damn thing. Except some are just retarded about how they state it IMO. Anyways; enjoy!

I find that lifting and yoga are complimentary. And that yoga and meditation are also complimentary. They all synergize beautifully such that you should try and do them all. Yoga helps recover from workouts MUCH faster and yoga clears the mind for meditation. It is also its own "thing" aside from meditation

Thank you for all the great contributions to this thread! Everyone being kind and respectful
Is so refreshing

To answer an earlier question I follow my own path which involves a synthesis of
Most religions , especially and specifically Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism.

I have read the bible from cover to cover and studied
It on and off since I was a child .

I have also read the bhagavad Gita, the Tao teh Ching, the Upanishads, etc.

I pray the Lord's Prayer and freestyle prayer daily and chant Hindu prayers and mantras regularly.

I meditate and do yoga regularly when I can and have been for about ten years.

I used to be an advanced lucid dreamer but lately fell out of it.

Today was my first day back on the path and it I got a new dream journal and wrote my dream down and did some intention affirmations before sleep.

Funny what some Of you said - my Shaman said "maybe you take yourself to seriously and are trying to hard"
And my brother said exactly the same thing to me a few days previously,

For me living a life of spirituality and religion is the best and only way for me to survive and thrive in this world.

It has always been my highest priority in life to attain salvation and enlightenment.

I just did some yoga and actually feel pretty amazing, really makes me realize how bad my normal posture is though.

This thread has inspired me though to start meditating again and start doing yoga regularly. I've never been an incredibly spiritual person but I think it could help if I give it a shot. Any tips and resources regarding meditation would be appreciated, as I've never been terribly good at it. I might start attending the Zen meditation group in my town again, but I'm open to try other forms of meditation.

You into the I Ching moonie? I've been thinking about getting into that lately.

Following your metaphor, actually he who digs many holes will find several wells. He who digs only one hole may find water or none at all.

He who chases a dozen rabbits may catch four, and you can chase a hundred rabbits as long as you chase them one after another.

Water does not exist in only one place, so dig all your life and find water again and again. The whole forest is full of rabbits and he who chases and catches only one will soon starve.

The world is full of rabbits and water and life is long. Each day we must eat and drink anew ,

Good for you

If my other thread about yoga was what planted the seed of doing yoga in your head, I cannot be happier. Introducing someone to yoga/meditation is something I take a lot of pride in. Both are amazingly deep practices. I also agree with the whole posture thing

Also; I would try and do yoga before meditation and do it first thing in the morning. Meditation after yoga is :vibin:

I already sent you the name of that yoga iphone app which helps immensely. I think the iphone app "lift" helps. Either way, just find something to focus on like your breath or chanting OM

I just want to throw this out there...you dont NEED a gym to get in shape. I have been doing one legged squats, one arm pushups and one arm pullups for a while now

the program set up in the book "convict conditioing" is a detailed path on how to get jacked as fuck using nothing but a basketball, and a pullup bar. Keep in mind, this is my entire gym. A basketball and a pullup bar is all I use daily for full body workouts

After you master the basics, paralettes and gymnastic rings, maybe some wieghts are nice. But don't fall into the "gym" hype. There are multiple ways to skin the cat

Yeah man, I'll admit that it was your thread that initially got me curious earlier this week or whenever. I've been wanting to try yoga for a long time but never really made any effort to until now basically, so thanks. Likewise with this thread, reading out all those different spiritual practices laid out like that really struck a chord with me and inspired me to actually try and get into meditation and other spiritual practices, which I've always been vaguely curious about.

That was the order I did it in, yoga then meditation. Was definitely relaxing, shit has gotten pretty stressful today since then and I'm not fucking overwhelmed by anxiety yet, so that's a start

Also curious about that "convict conditioning", as I've always preferred the idea of working out at home with minimal equipment over a gym.

Moonshoe, you into kabbalah at all? A friend of mine who's big on esoteric practices has been telling me a bit about it lately. Seems like something that'd be up your alley.

Using a dream journal has offered a lot of insight into my subconscious mind and even traumatic experiences that have been buried deeply and unaware of. Very useful. But I often forget to write in it

Also; hex_induction; feel free to pm me if you have questions on bodywieght. It's a beautiful art of movement. Between yoga, and bodyweight movements I feel like I discovered gold. I will begin deadlifting and squatting heavy soon. Squats+deadlifts+convict conditioning+yoga=a ridiculously functional physqiye

Have a good one!

Yes lucid dreaming is a huge part of my spiritual path! dreaming is the other half of our life, it is our direct experience of the spiritual realm . We are multidimensional beings and inhabitants of two worlds. The world of dreams is the spirit world. And lucid dreaming is shamanism . Furthermore once we learn to lucid dream we can begin practicing dream yoga, dream magic and other amazing things.

To be a spiritually alive person is to be fully conscious in both realms. Dreaming is our connection to realms of infinite wonder !

@hex enduction- yes I am very interested in qabbalah and have done some reading and practice in that area and intend to learn much more about it!

And whoever asked - I hope to glean many thjngs. Health, happiness, joy, wellbeing, self discipline , wisdom, awareness, power, bliss, understanding, liberation, salvation, enlightenment, serenity, insight, freedom.

The spiritual path for me is nothing less then life well lived, actualizing my destiny, being true to myself, being who I am meant to be.

Becoming a Yogi , a shaman, a mystic, a saint, a wise man, a holy man, a healer and teacher .

All this and more I seek through the disciplined pursuit of spiritual practices.

Liberation from suffering and the attainment of the highest good.

Lol my buddy was asking me the other day "why are you into this bullshit?". In this area of life, he is the complete opposite of me. I was trying to explain to him but its quite hard. I guess people on the outside watching me think I am just kind of doing a whole bunch of nothing. But the states of mind/conciousness I work to cultivate and the wisdom I seek is VERY applicable and "real"

I have been getting back into my yoga and meditation routine. Today in class I came to the profound realization that it felt like life was a dream. When I realized this, I realized I felt like I was melting into my chair. It sounds funny, but sometimes I forget how powerful this type of stuff is. Feeling absolutely at peace at almost any moment is a skill that is really worth cultivating
