the spore print is definitely a brownish rust colored. thought it might be honey mushroom but the print ruled that out. cant seem to find any other possibilities on my own besides gym. if i can get some help asap that'd be awesome because these are in a very public spot and bound to get trampled. thank you for trying and all help is welcome, if they are possibly gym i can go take a picture of their natural habitat if you guys need more info or anything. i tasted it (hardly) (swished water around in my mouth after and spit it out so hopefully i dont die) and it did taste bitter for sure

I would say that it is a gym. Either gymnopilus ventricosus or junonius would be my guess.

Cooked it? I think you got it all wrong my friend...With gyms, the trick is to NOT cook them, but to refrigerate them, keep them at roughly 36-48 degrees F. for about 6-8 hours.  Then observe around the edge of the cap, and the bottom and top of the stem.  Sometimes its a very prnounced blue, other times its a faint green.  From my experience, I would say Gymnopilus Junonius.  It has that big meaty stem, and bulky cap.  Try and find more to post here! Good luck

actually you can see some small mushrooms in the picture of the grass. starting to get excited but im puzzled in how these mushrooms would be growing in the grass like that. is that even possible? everywhere i read says that they strictly grow on wood...

most of the gyms i have found have been in grassy areas.  Keep in mind, they werent always grassy areas, construction crews, road crews, etc have come in and cleared away forest areas and burried most of the wood, also its not uncommon to find burried wood with gym mycelium growing on it.  IME sometimes the wood has decomposed but somehow the mycelium still survives, I also would like to know how.  But to answer your question, its not uncommon to find gyms in areas that would appear to have little or no wood debris.

cool thanks for your help man, im pretty pumped now haha. this is my first active find and i found them when i went to help my friend move. guess i got good karma for that one considering i wasnt even mushroom hunting when i found them!! gonna have to get the rest soon. whats the best way to dry them? is it okay if they have larvae (not saying they do) in them? not sure if the bugs got to them. i definietly dont wanna catch a parasite or anything.

also if a TRUSTED IDENTIFIER could confirm this find it would make me a lot more certain upon eating them. i dont trip much anymore so i wont be a glutton with them anyways but i certainly dont want to risk death. is there any chance these could hurt me? Thank you shroomery without you guys i would not be able to identify these or indulge hahaha

Nice finds indeed. Pins bruising / aborts are best to see it
They are mild so don't worry about overdoing tea. You'll want roughly 150+ wet gram / dose.
More the better.
Watch that spot they may continue for years if you ain't finding a last flush now.

TheShroomanizer appears to know what's up.
But can a Trusted Identifier confirm?
Thanks.

Yes.  Although fresh is best as far as potency goes, if you are going to hold on to them for a few days, just rinsem, and dehydrate them in a food dehydrator if u have 1. Also, in reference to the maggots, They wont hurt you...especially if you dehydrate them, most will die or run away, but with that being said I personally dont eat mushrooms that are over-loaded with worms...idc what anyone says about extra protein.  And just sit tight, If you post it, they will come
