Thanks for the research. Do you know of these are safe to eat? Are they psychedelic?

They are not psychedelic like psilocybin species are. They contain muscimol which has some spacey, deleriant type effects. Also referred to as fly agaric.....I would wait for a TI to confirm that is what they are first.

while not commenting on what a real amanita experience is all about, the dude in that story went about it ALL wrong. rather than heating and drying to convert the ibotenic acid to its psychoactive form, he basically extracted the poison into a tea and drank straight poison water.

So these mushrooms are psychedelic then? Hmm, very interesting. I'd like to hear some other opinions /experiences.

Not so pschyedellic, its more closely compared to PCP they say.. Only once in the past. But i cooked the hell out of them on purpose, and made a delicious meal with them. Never for recreation. But i intend to in the future.

Just to clarify here, sorry:
I LOVE consuming Amanita Muscaria that I find, im drying some as we speak. anyways, There IS a difference between Psychodelic and Hallucinogenic. Psilicybin falls under the category like this:
Halleucinogenic --> Psychodelic --> Psilocybin
Amanita Muscaria Falls under like this:
Hallucinogenic --->Deleriant --->Muscimol
The desired active ingrediant in Amanita Muscaria is Muscimol, however the levels vary and you will also pick up uncertain amounts of Muscarine (related to nausea, salivation, nervousness...your side effects will depend on how much muscarine is in your fruits. ) And also Ibotenic Acid, Ibotenic Acid is what most people are scared of, because it can cause brain lesions in higher doses when it passes the BBB and is considered Highly Toxic...however Ibotenic Acid is an unstable compound and will readily convert into the desired muscimol through a process called Decarboxylation. You can do this by exposing them to UV light for a prolonged period, or using heat. Both ways dry the mushroom, which you need to do anyways to minimized Ibotenic Acid exposure.
FUN FACT : Ibotenic Acid at >98% purity sells to certain pharmaceutical companies at roughly $5,000.00 Per liquid gram for use in treating brain tumors, and other conditions.
hope this helps, PM me if you want more info about A.Muscaria, trip reports, etc.

Just to give you an idea...
also, if you figure out how to extraact and isolate and stabilize without losing purity % LET ME KNOW!!!! I have been working on it for a long time, read a lot o gov. articles and scholarly artices, and from what I have learned only 1 person has succesfully done a "home-extract" method from A.Muscaria and he refused to publish his method...understandably. But its not impossible.
