Transparent Brown on stem

Hello again everyone! I hoping one of you have ran into this already. I got a cake going on its 2nd flush, its got a pin growing on it. The car split at first, as it kept growing thr stem appeared to have a brownish transparent color to it. At first I thought this could be just a mutant, but I got a cake that I just put into my SGFC with the exact same colored stem coming out of it. Am I dealing with a contamination issue, a coincidence of two of the same mutants, or something else? I picked it anyway just in case, it smells like normal shrooms though. I know I had a humidity issue a few days ago and things got a little too damp, could that cause it? Thanks for all the help!

It's possible. Verticillium can commonly turn the stems brown/have brown spots at the base. Same with some bacterias. Both of those can be contained with more fae, so upping fae is what you do, as you've already guessed :P

Thank you so much for your reply, you guys at Shroomery are awesome! Oh yes! FAE seems to be the culprit for many issues I have had with my cakes since day 1 :P I think my fruiting chamber is the problem, I tried following this guide http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18381574/fpart/all/vc/1 Perlite is very seasonal where I live, so I drilled 3mm holes in the bottom of my fruiting chamber so it will act as a colander to bleach my perlite every so often. I dont think I have enough holes for FAE to come in from the bottom, because my RH keeps dropping on me yet the perlite at the very bottom is moist.
I'm considering switching to a monotub and doing bulk. It seems to require less maintenance, and would fit in a lot better with my work schedule.
Anyway, would these guys be safe to eat if I'm putting them in a dehydrator? Or is it worth the risk?

Dehydrator will definitely work. If you have a good stomach it'll be fine. Vert is edible. Some people with bad stomachs report some tender tummies tho. Personally I've had lots of brown stemmed stuff and was perfectly fine.
Probably on the holes and the fae, and definitely switch to bulk. Bulk is where it's at!
