Amanita's Everywhere!!

Wow is all I can say. I went to my Grandparents today to pick some stuff up. I pull in the driveway which happens to be lined with pine trees for 100ft on the left side an there had to of been over 100 Amanitas just all over the place. I didn't have my phone at the time so I couldn't get any pics, but I decided to harvest some of the more mature specimens an bring them home. I do have some pics of the ones I brought home, but the true glory was seeing them all in the wild it was truly awesome.
I have harvested Amanitas prior to this occasion an always use my mycology diagrams when comparing, however I am always weary because I always feel under educated in mycology there is so much to learn an it is always hard determining sub species.
Any input on my harvest is greatly appreciated.
I will return to my Grandparents tomorrow to continue to harvest.
If they are not good to eat they will be good for something else.
Oh yeah this is my first post Thanks for being Cool

Yeah....they do look like they could be amanita muscaria yellow variant...but, I would be afraid to try them just because I don't trust myself that much to id them properly...there are so many different amanitas.

Yes that is my dilemma also, so many variants, but we have had a lot of rain for the past few days which might have an affect on the darkness of the red kind of like flushing them, they were rather heavy what I have in the pictures is Like 3-4 pounds. some of the small ones I left growing were considerably darker then the mature ones.
When I return to my grandparents tomorrow I will take pictures of them in the ground in the habitat an also I will find out what kind of species pine trees they are growing under. Something about symbiosis an some types pine trees. I can't really remember all the details.

South Western Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh.
I've been doing some research an I'm stuck between 2 sub species.. A. Guessowii, or A. Flavivolvata

They are both muscaria variants so you're good, I'd call these Amanita muscaria var guessowii

Wasn't able to get a picture of them growing. Harvested what was visible because I wouldn't be able to return for a week so I didn't want any of them to go to waste.

Yes Amanita muscaria generally does fruit everywhere where the habitat is correct.

Hop that fence or slam on your brakes. Lol. If someone asks tell them you can't afford food so you have to pick wild mushrooms to survive, because the economy is so messed up" Don't Pull Up In A BMW" hahah.

Here's another awesome pic I took during the drying process.. I dry all my caps upside down, because when they are heated up they get really saturated an a puddle of some liquid forms in the cap I like all that liquid to evaporate into the cap so I'm sure I'm not losing any type of psychoactive's..being me I decided to taste this liquid forming in the picture, to my surprise it was relatively sweet an delicious I wanted to just squeeze it all into a cup an drink it. It was also kinda sticky sorta like a watered down honey.
Lol I have been drying mushrooms for 3 days now my wife is pissed the house stinks like Fungi

Yeah this year near the Burg is a HoneyHole for Guessowii. The few days of rain an the temperature drop the past week has really made ideal conditions. When I harvest I try to disturb the mature caps so they drop spores all over the harvest site. I picked over 100 Guessowii last week an I'm hoping some spores make the opportunity for a second harvest.
As of now I'm still drying these monsterous things, which is more of a chore then an enjoyment but soon they all should be cracker dry.
I also took a spore print with hopes of regenerating them at home, but all the forums an doc's I've read pretty much state that it is nearly impossible to grow these at home. So I might just try to frame the spore print an hang it on the wall because it looks awesome.

I just found quite a lot of mushrooms that look exactly like these, I found them growing under pines after heavy rain about 20 yards from the shore of a lake in Southern Pennsylvennia about an hour south of Harrisburg. I would also love to know if anyone can correctly identify these!
I'll post some pics of my finds if you'd like, I don't want to hijack your thread though.

Well, these are just sitting out in the middle of nowhere, waiting for someone who's interested in the muscimol experience to come along and pick them:

I'd tell you where they are but I don't think you'd fancy the journey.
