Hello everyone, just joined Shroomery and it's pretty sweet! I am a very traditional member of the Navajo tribe. Everywhere I look on the internet there are so many misconceptions about Native Americans and I feel like my knowledge could be of use to many on this board. So, ask me a quesion and I'll try to answer it.

Why were they so violent to the settling pilgrims?
I mean, we made them a thanksgiving feast for God's sake.

What are your thoughts on Native's charging money for ceremonies like Vision Quests and Yuwipi Ceremonies?
I understand charging for the Ayahuasca and Peyote Ceremonies due to the traveling costs of the shaman and the medicine, but the others is what i'm mostly wondering how a Native feels about it.
I attended a Yuwipi Ceremony last weekend and they were fairly persistent on asking for "donations." Granted, if you didn't have any money, they would still let you join but the donations were mentioned multiple times.

There isn't much of a market for it, or for it's abuse. It's just extremely "sacred" to everyone on the rez and people know not to fuck around with it, native or not haha. It's usually obtained through ceremonies or your own personal cultivation.

Why were the Native Americans unable to develop a modern society of their own before the white man came.

Beware of the people on this board.
Do you mind if I ask what percent Navajo you are?
Those people need to beware themselves lol. I'm full blooded and can trace my lineage back about 5 or 6 generations...

There was no need to. Life was harmonious in every aspect. This is called hozhó, or the Beauty Way.

This talk of Peyote made me curious.. How often are peyote rituals typically attended? (If one, obviously, attends them?)

Seriously... He claims to be part native but I find it hard to believe.
Um doesn't everybody though? Like seriously, you can't even have a conversation without someone bringing up their great-great-great-great-great grandmother on their second cousin twice removed's side who is Cherokee.
With so many "part Natives", you'd think a mass forced migration and genocide didn't happen.
