Yeah I got about 200 so far, haven't even gone out to my good spots just taking my dog for walks in nearby fields, still isn't full on mushroom season though, I reckon another week or two and they'll be out in full force

I live in the South of Ireland & I've got a few thousand so far this year.. (got 1500+ in the past 3 days) try mountains/hills with sheep & patchy grass They wont grow on very boggy ground, they also wont grow on very dry ground.. Your best bet is to find an appropriate looking field and check the mounds of earth (little hills within the field) and you should find some..
I don't know what county you're in but most counties in Ireland are perfect for mushrooms, I've lived in Cork, Mayo & Kerry and all of them are ideal Look for sheep, short grass (just makes it easier to find them) and hills! Sheep pastures are your best bet, it can take a while to find the right field so don't give up too easy

Oh, and I find that a lot of the old celtic monuments (stone circles etc) are built in good land for mushrooms.. I wouldn't take it as a rule of thumb, but might give you a direction to aim for

Thanks for the tips, no sheep around my region, Just trolling fields with the dog as an excuse!!! So fields with or that had cows in them! Do you think higher ground would make a difference, Based around West Cork at the moment all I can see are these

go out past bantry, out towards kerry & look around
If you live in west cork there are 100% sheep fields.. I live close to the city and thats where my best spots are

Munster here, fields that yielded me 1000s last seasons are now almost empty, i picked maybe 50 in total during couple days. It didn't rain properly yet and day temps are high, the only moisture that soil gets is from morning fog. Last 2 weeks ago libs were small which indicates season just kicking in, but now they grow in proper size. I just hope season is late.

I'm having same problem , they all seem fairly small , I'm only a novice so just hoping it's the fact we have not had rain and that's why they are rare and small ! I had to claim a mountain to find my first few ! It's about 500-600ft above sea level and got about 60/80 libs but I know there are more there as they seem to be just sprouting ! Only found 15 or 20 really mature ones! Maybe it's just a little early or to dry ???????

They are pretty small anyway, especially once they dry out they're tiny.. I've had a good season this year not as good as last but still got more than enough

Yeah it's been really dry here the last two weeks. There's been frost a few nights, so a bit worried the effect of the dry, cold weather. There's supposed to be rain a few days this week though.
