The article is good news, similar to court rulings regarding the stupidity of what the Conservatives pulled with the medical system. Rather expected though -- a number of judges were not pleased with the government trying to dictate rulings when the Conservatives brought in mandatory minimums to begin with.
Unfortunately, if the Conservatives get in for another round, they will likely endeavor to find other idiotic means of cracking down to make up for this ruling.
NDP in Alberta is gaining in criticisms already, NDP left a lot of people in Saskatchewan previously scorned, and the support for NDP in Québec and Ontario is slipping over into the Conservatives. Buckling in for another potentially rough ride, but hoping the efforts to get people out and voting for anyone but Harper proves beneficial.
At least it is looking like a minority government whatever the outcome at this point, but would really prefer that Harper not be at the forefront of it.

I like the Conservatives on most issues and the Supreme's court ability and willingness to strike down so much legislation during Harper's reign shows that we have a balanced and fair system with numerous natural checks against legislation that counters our country's values.

This. The system isn't as rigged as people think. Our Supreme Court has been battling Harper's unconstitutional BS legislation for years now. Never before have a Prime Minister and the SCC (I realise this case doesn't involve the SCC) had such an adversarial relationship. Fuck Harper.
