what if you could coat the substrate in thicker petroleum jelly or similar that would inhibit pins until you tossed the sub. peroxidated jelly if it didn't harm the sub too much. lets get really over complicated with this

Yeah I found out the hard way while trying to fold my hand and wrist in ways that weren't meant to be. Then one day it came to me... I took a sharp knife to it and my life became 10 times better. :dawerp:

Cool idea azur. And who wants to eat petroleum jelly shrooms. This sounds like a horrible idea.

Azur.. thanks for showing that.  I don't use liners either but I do need that for painting.  I like to use a paint gun and it's a pain in the ass taping off plastic sheeting on the areas you don't want blotted with overspray.

As far as the liners go if you use the scalpel I would get one of those plastic guard thingys you use to paint with when you're cutting in (it blocks the brush from getting the ceiling or whatever).  Just place that behind the liner as you cut and you'll save your tub from getting nicked up.

It maybe a PITA to work with but it is by far better than any slick surface, plastic liner out there.
