Hello everyone, so I wondering if someone can help me figure why they are so blue after only 3 hours in an. Airtight jar with silica gel bead? I did put the beads in the microwave to cook for little did I maybe not let the beads cool enough and so they damaged the mushrooms, this is my first time but if in not mistaken this is too blue ?

They are OK It's normal. Just fan dry and then damp rid them is how I do it.

I prefer to fan dry first. Then use a desiccant for storage and final moisture absorption.

dehydrators are so much better, i honestly never got why people would go through all the trouble when your average 20 dollar dehydrator off craigslist will dry a batch in like 8 hours... hell you can even build a top of the line model with the heating element and fan in a 3 dollar thrift store hair dryer, a box, and a computer fan... i have never felt the urge to buy damp rid and hope for the best...
wasnt that method devised back in the day when people thought 160 degree temps would ruin potency?

those beads will not dehydrate your fruits all the way. they are just a finisher for after you fan dried them.
you have to put them in front of a fan for ~24 hours, then put them in a sealed container with the desiccant.
they were turning blue because they were rotting in that jar, not dehydrating.

Like Munch just said you're only supposed to use the desiccant for a final drying step after fruits have been fan(dehydrator) dried. Also use desiccant packs in jars for long term storage.
