Found a little patch of these under some brush of off a wood chipped path. I only took one because the others were really quite small. My first hunt and this is what I came home with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like an ovoid to me....wait for someone more local and experienced with PNW mushrooms. Definitely an active though, nice first hunt man!

On second thought I think it's a cyan.

If it is, I'll probably be going back after the next rain. In the meantime, how should I store this?

Bravo to you!
Great find!

Where abouts in the PNW are you roughly if you don't mind me asking? I'm hoping that some more rain comes through here in north Oregon. It's getting  colder and colder every night, with some good rainfall the azzies will be poppin
Can't wait
Peace

Edit: id dry it out for now, throw it in a dehydrator or in front of a fan.
P.s take a knife with you next time and cut as low as you can. It will keep the mycelium happy and might even help flush more mushiness out of the patch.
Have fun dude!

If you want to store it you will need to dry it.

Northwestern OR, Hulk. I've got it sitting in front of a fan now. Do these lose potency when dried? Lots of questions as I've just moved to the PNW and was unable to do this where I used to live.

I went back to find more a bit later and I came across some but it looks like they're rotting? Or being eaten?

These last two are new to me. I'm not sure what they are but they look really cool.

The first one are Psilocybe cyanescens- the dark color is due to oxidation of psychoactive compounds. The second ones might be a Pluteus species.

Thanks, Maynard! Should I pick them then(cyans)? I only took a few because I wasn't sure if they were any good or not.

Don't pick them when they are that small. Wait a bit for them to mature. Cut them at the base. Don't worry about heavy bluing (almost rotten looking portions) it usually is no cause for concern.

I picked these today...and like I said, the heavily blued one is drying just fine. No cause for alarm.
