Please help me identify this bolete
    #22303540 - 09/28/15 03:44 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hello all. Looking for some help identifying a bolete found near my house in western maine.

Habitat:
Found in the middle of a rocky trail lined with pine and hardwoods in Maine.

Gills:
Light yellow pores that are easily removed.

Stem:
White with light brown on it. Pores don't appear to go down stem and it is solid with no bruising when cut. Located in center of cap.

Cap:
Irregular shape but close to round. Light brown / tan with lighter cream tones.

Spore print color:
??? Haven't done one yet

Bruising:
None

Other information:
No real scent and when I did tasted a small piece and then spit it out it had no bitterness and tasted quite nice. Light and earthy. Seems to like this section of rocky trail near my house and grows singly and in small clusters.

I am by no means an expert and defer to people on this site every chance I get, but take a look into Barrow's Bolete (boletus barrowsii). Looks like it could be close. Is that reticulation on the stem? The pictures are a little blurry, that should help you narrow down. Sorry I can't do more :\. Best of luck.
