I was wondering what should I say to get a script for benzos and possibly some sort of medication for adult ADD..
I have trouble sleeping and anxiety in general has definitely gone up, sometimes to the point where I don't even want to do anything except avoid people all day.
I'm afraid he'll try to give me SSRIs or something a long those lines... what happens if I tell him no to anti-depressants?

First of all decide which you want more, benzos or stimulants, because if you try to get both in one doctor's appointment you will instantly be labelled as drug seeking. Its one or the other, why would a doctor prescribe stimulants to someone having anxiety? Makes no sense.
IF you want benzos, say you have been having intense fits of anxiety where you feel like you are having a heart attack and you cant function. IN other words say you are having a panic attack.
You need to emphasize you have occasional, not persistent, anxiety, but its debilitating when it does happen.
If you say you are chronically anxious they will prescribe an antidepressant, but if you say its only occasional but when it happens its really bad.
Say you have been having it for 2-3 months, if you say six months or more, they will try an antidepressant.
Thats it really. Just say you have crippling anxiety attacks and he might prescribe you a few benzos.

Thanks, yeah I wondered about attempting to get benzos/stimulants in one doctor visit...definitely might seem suspicious, but I think I may be able to pull it off without seeming to much like a drug seeker.
I might mention that I was diagnosed with ADD a few years ago while at university and never followed through with it because I dropped out shortly thereafter and was able to make it through alright, but now that I am back in school I can say I've noticed some attention problems I've been having.
Maybe I'll just go for the benzos first, while making a mention about the above near the end of the appointment and schedule a follow-up where I'll try and go for the ADD meds.
