Limed substrate?

Wondering if anyone has added lime to CVG? I'm pasteurizing a new batch right now. I'm going to test the pH, which I expect to be on the acidic side. Depending on the answers here, I may or may not add garden lime to raise the pH.
Opinions wanted.

No, it's just not needed.

we use lime in casing layers because they do not get fully colonized, substrates do

Is it because of pH? Do cubes prefer an alkaline or neutral environment? I use lime in a peat casing because peat is wickedly acidic. Or that is the reason I thought I was using it. Nobody has ever really addressed this in my research.
So why is not fully colonizing the reason?

a fully colonized sub is already contam resistent as is a pasturized sub, a casing layer is not colonized and always exposed so by raising the ph to level that mold spores don't like we favor our mycelium which can handle it without issue
