Quart Jar Question -- Polyfill
    #2230234 - 01/09/04 03:55 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Just a quick question

Is the polyfill I'm supposed to get for my quart birdseed jars the 'polyester filling' that I can get at a craft store?

thanks

-ShadeGirl

I buy it as pillow filling... It will say Polyester fiber fill or floss.

Its also used as aquarium filters.

You know, My experience has led me to believe that tyvek can be overheated.

I cooked some jars at 20 lbs, and all my control jars (uninoculated) contaminated with green mold on the tops of the substrate, which suggested to me that the contamination got in through the Tyveck.

Also Tyveck shrinks like a shrinky dink in the oven at a fairly low temperature.

It is made by Dupont.
