Going to Amsterdam next week.

As title suggests, I'm going to the capital of soft-junk, with my sister. I've been in Amster twice before. I'm staying at the Plantage Hotel, and I'm as familiar as you can be with a town after two visits. I find my way throught the crooked alleys and fairytale bridges, but haven't found any "golden" spots yet.
I'd love to get some advice on bars, bookshops, coffeeshops outside the city centre, which alley or streets slings the better coke/opiates (oxy/tram/sub).
The reason I ask about opiates is because my sister sort of has a habit. Okay, nobody ever sort of has a opiate habit. You do or don't. She does.
I'm not trying to set up a connection or a meeting with anyone. Just want some friendly advice on how to fiend and enjoy myself.

I went to a coffeshop almost as far from the center you can get and other than the fact it was relaxing because not many people were there, I thought it kind of sucked. As far as weed goes, you can find great weed at the city center areas. I just found that Sativa was more popular than Indica, and I'm an indica person.

Step one: get some cash. Step two: locate the Red Light District, look for a sign with a bulldog on it, and buy weed + supplies. Step three: go to the Spuistraat. Locate the Doors bar. Say hi to the barman, order a drink and go upstairs to smoke.
Guaranteed succes!
There's also an old guy with a white beard walking around, he dresses like a gnome. Buy his mushrooms and give them to your sister, because opiates are the devil and you're not doing her any favours. There are no trustworthy dealers in Amsterdam, except for that gnome guy. He rocks.

Utrecht is awesome in a lot of ways I like it more than amsterdam however even if you are into drugs or not Amsterdam MUST be seen. It's just too unique to pass it up.

Haha yeah, that's actually the best recommendation. Amsterdam is like a themepark for the tourists, it has nothing to do with the real Country.
Vlissingen is pretty chill, as is Goes, where I live. Look, just stay out of North and South Holland and you'll be fine. The provinces are really chill.

You could say the same thing about any major city in practically every western country. NYC or LA or San Fran aint America, Berlin aint Germany, London aint the UK, and Budapest aint Hungary. It doesn't mean these cities are "fake" or "theme park like"

Yeah I know, but Amsterdam is literally theme park like. It is in fact a real problem for the municipality of Amsterdam, that it is becoming too much like a theme park for tourists. And is being treated as such by said tourists, mainly those from Brittain and the USA.
It was national news and everything!

Most of those hipsters are Americans tho. Why do we get all the whiney Justinbieber-wannabe hipster fucks while the cool rednecks and hippies stay away? What's your deal, Americans?
(This is based on my encounters with tourists in Amsterdam. American adolescents are like... the worst people in the world.)
EDIT: so the point of this post is that Americans have GOT TO raise their kids right from now on. Only YOU can prevent hipsterism.

Sorry I don't have anything to contribute to your thread in terms of places to go, sites to see...
But OP, I am so jealous of you. Please come back & make a journal or thread about your visit. (including how much it cost, places you visited, & so on.) Maybe one day I will go to Amsterdam...
OP, stay safe & have fun!
Take care.

Based off of anecdotal evidence, Americans are like the 4th worst tourist, only out dicked by the english, aussies and chinese.
I was in Amsterdam a month ago. There are shit loads of people from any english speaking country, really.

I don't know, I never chill there, it's just a place where they got pretty good weed, for Amsterdam. Usually I take some with me from home anyway. (There's coffeeshops in every city, not just Amsterdam.) But if you want a place to smoke it, the Doors cafe is the best place, hands down.
There is also a the Doors coffeeshop, but it is like a mirage. I only ever see it from the distance, and when I look for it it is gone
Hey if a shroomery member ever goes to Amsterdam and wants to meet me, Turtletotem, give me a PM and I'll see if I have the time!

Yeah, can't forget about the Chinese. People from the Anglosphere are just rude asshole fratboys who make a fucking mess everywhere they go and harass all the women while failing at rolling joints in a sub-par coffeeshop, but the Chinese get outright bizzare with their obnoxious behaviour.
I don't know about Israeli tourists, never seen one.

Coffee shops outside the city center are often not that great. There's one place that comes to mind though: http://www.kashmirlounge.com/
A 10 minute tram ride from the center, a great shop, large too, check the pics. Good quality hash (IIRC, not been there for a few years).
Another cool shop, in the center is Rokerij, and go the the one on the Singel 8, not the one near Leidseplijn, that one is always very busy IME. Besides, the lighting on Singel 8 is very trippy!
And of course everybody goes to Dampkring from that scene with Cloony and Brad Pitt. That is a tourist magnet though... and a bit smallish.
Also, please don't go to the streets and alleys for any substance. It's asking to get ripped off, either money wise, or quality wise. Can't say much else about it here, just: know your sources.
You're at the Plantage Hotel? You're a 3 minute walk from both the Artis Zoo, and the Hortus Botanicus. Check them out. Both cool places to be on museum level trips. The jungle greenhouse of the Hortus is very cool. It may not be super big, but has cool vibes when you're off baseline.
And yes, we're a theme park compared to the rest of the country. But isn't that just what you want?
Love, Hanz.

yeah there were lots of Chinese tourists when I went to Laos. They actually reminded me a lot of the Asian version of your "typical" American tourist. Big tour busses, kept themselves as isolated as possible from the actual populace of Laos, etc. I could see how they could come off as asshole tourists, although I never really had any encounters with them to speak of as they pretty much kept to themselves.

WARNING: compared to what your sister may be used to, some heroin might be VERY STRONG in The Netherlands. Foreigners OD-ing due to unexpectedly high strength is a thing here.
MDMA is cheap here, sometimes as cheap as 100 tabs for 150 bucks. Some Smart Shops sell psilocybin "truffles" and ayahuasca herbs. Special K is prevalent on the black market as is GHB. Unique for Holland and Belgium: Street 2C-B tablets.

Pretty sure The Bulldog is notorious for having loud British tourists.
I used to like coffee shops in Liedseplien (sp?) the best. The Noon, the Dolphin, Global Chillage, etc. Can't remember where the Rokerij is, but they had great bud.

Turtletotem - I've been to Bulldog, but haven't visited the doors. Thanks man! And yes, yes - opiates are evil and streetdrugs are no good. If I'd want a morallecture I'd post over at yahooanswers.
BigFeely123 - I'll return a report!
Hanz - I've been to the zoo! I'll check out the rest, thanks!
Asante - she's not that into H, but thanks for the heads up. Special K? Oh, been looking for that! Impossible to find here. Thank you!
I figure I should get some EZ test kits or something while we're there, if it comes to that.

Wtf, ALL of them are?, and I only pick up on it now.. and even after a few years I knew the one on the Amstel was, that eventually changed to another name, but the one on Singel too? Damn that's a shame. What a way to learn something about your own town
However, the hash at the Kashmirlounge used to be as fine as that of the Rokerij. I always buy at Tweede Kamer, or at Dampkring. I just never sit down and roll up.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I would greatly appreciate that. I'm sure others here would also like to see how your trip goes.
Also, concerning reagent test kits, I would highly recommend you get a few if you plan on doing anything else besides weed. They're cheap & a must have for any drug consumer considering they can potentially save your life!
Be safe & have fun. A trip to Amsterdam is probably going to be one that you'll remember forever.

I have this adolescent dream where I snort coke pr H or dust or any powder off of a prostitutes ass. A sanitary hazard, yes. A bit chauvinistic, maybe. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
Although, since my sister is with me, that might be a bad idea.

Wow, really? I went there, like, 6 months ago, and it wasn't crowded at all, except at the selling point. We could all sit on the couches, and the toilets where free.
And I like places where it's filled with tourists... keeps the Dutch out

Bulldog has decent bud but is filled with tourists just looking to get off their ass. I personally found it annoying having to overhear everybody say how "messed up" they were. It's like talking about food while eating. Just sit there and enjoy whatever it is your doing. IMO it seemed shallow to be so fortunate to travel in a country steeped in such beauty and history only venturing there to cop a "semi-legal" buzz.
Abraxas is OK... Alright upstairs lounge and got some great Hindu Kush when I was there. The bartender also gave me some free merchandise since he dug what I was wearing
De Dampkring, again a bit touristy, but they have some spot on hot chocolate. Smoke up, drink some cocoa and walk five minutes towards the Van Gogh museum.
Grey Area is small, so don't expect to sit down, but they do have some of the finest hash the city has to offer.
I thought Barney's Lounge was pretty swanky (there were two locations last time I was there [don't remember which was better]). Good atmosphere and people IME.
Amnesia has a relaxed vibe and good green. Baba (middle eastern themed) too, though can be busy at times.
Greenhouse had sweet product and wasn't full of tourists when I went. Your mileage may vary.
Be sure to check out the museums, go for a boat ride along the canals & rent a bike. The Netherlands really are lovely, so try and get outside the city (maybe Utecht). The countryside is what bards used to sing fairy tales about. Enjoy

Oh man I am jealous I had SUCH a good time in Amsterdam with my wiferson, I felt at home there, I felt a deep sense of peace and happiness and acceptance being there. I loved the lifestyle, wake up in the morning, grab a fresh coffee and a "space muffin" edible and smoke a spliff at the coffeeshop, go for a bike ride, grab a beer at a pub...
Heavenly.
And the truffles! Not to be missed!

Nah, most likely not. If my sister brings her friend and they go off somewhere, I might get lost and found in a red room.

Yeah, I've had the same sense of peace being there. I'll try the truffles for sure. Been there twice without doing them, now's the time.
They sell cacti there as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Hope you have a good time OP! I'll be visiting the Netherlands in December but will only be doing a couple of day trips to Amsterdam.
All of the coffee shop recs here are much appreciated! It's like Yelp for delinquents.

Yeah I believe San Pedro is pretty easy to get in a smartshop, and not too expensive either. Have fun man

Come to the city of Goes in Zeeland, and visit Plan-B, the coffeeshop overlooking the main town square! You can get there from Amsterdam Central, take the train to Vlissingen central and you won't have to switch, even.

Only State of Mind still exists. When were you last here?
Sarasani dealt coke under the counter and was closed. Black and white sold to minors and was closed.
Russhia I have never heard of but I am sure it doesn't exist at the moment. Probably fell victim to the rule that no coffeeshop could be within a 500 meter radius of a school. We lost more than half of the shops that way.
Hi/lo is a good alternative nowadays.

For quality De Dampkring is certainly the place, but LoL if walking from there to the Van Gogh seemed like 5 minutes...
