The moon
    #22300792 - 09/27/15 10:08 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey everyone,

So tonight i sat outide and watched the lunar elcipse with my dad. We just sat out in a field in lawn chairs watched the earths shadow eclipse the moon, and spent a good 2.5 hours just talking about life and all the important things in it. He shared things with me i had never known about him, and honestly i dont think ive ever communicated on such a level with somone before. This may sound odd, but would this lunar event, or just the fact that we were in a peaceful setting watching a beautiful event take place have something to do with it? Just thought id throw it out there, a little food for thought. Anyone else see the eclipse? Hope you all are doing well. You guys are the best.

You are lucky you can bond with your father. Not that many around here who can do that. My father is gone, I regret very much not having made friends with him while I had the chance. It is too late for me now. You are in better shape.

My father used to say: I don't care what else you do in life, just don't be an asshole. People, forgive me when I forget what my daddy said.

I find being in the presence of awe-inspiring events can cause a shift in perspective for some people. Defences fade when we're reminded of how small, fragile, and dependent we are, submitting ourselves to the power and complexity of nature, dropping the facade.

It's cool that the moon facilitated a connection with your father. That's something to cherish.

It clouded up and started to rain just before the eclipse around here, so I went out for a walk and soaked it in. The eclipse is amazing, but that feeling of awe and connection is accessible in every little drop of our world if we open ourselves to it.

Yes I saw it.  The curve of the shadow of the Earth led me to the conclusion that Copernicus and Kepler were not wrong.  And holy shit if we didn't have guys walkin' around on that thing.

Far out.

very nice post, dear friend, & thank you.  I didn't see the eclipse but I liked the thread title and have a short experience to share. . a lovely, one of the best of my life.  Was out in nature for a month, with just food and water and my kitty; sleeping with my head at the foot of a tree.  One night, woke up partway through the night when the moon shone through the trees.. I fell asleep shortly after, but not before noting it for memory.

When it shone through that open area of the trees was when I woke, and I just looked at it with love, and then went back to sleep.. one of the most beautiful moments of my life.  I'm very glad you have that bonding moment with your father too - my dad and me always a great relationship.

Peace&Light&Strength,  (Happiness & perfect health to you always)

J.

Living outside was one of the best experiences of my life. Im glad to hear that stuck in your memory, I often think of the wonderful moments in my life I have forgotten, stuck somewhere in my subconscious.
