Panaeolus sphinctrinus or acuminatus?
    #22299918 - 09/27/15 06:40 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hello to all!

So I went hunting for Liberty Caps this weekend, to the mountain pastures. I did not find any, but I did find some shroomies that I suspect are Panaeolus sphinctrinus or retirugus or acuminatus. I'm not sure if they are even psychoactive (some sources claim they are), but if they are not, I intend to eat them anyway for the other tryptamines they contain.

All mushrooms were found on grassy terrain/pastures, some growing directly from or very close to cow dung, at an altitude of cca. 1600m in Slovenia. They are very gentle, break easily. The cap has a shiny light brown/silver quality, bell shaped and never fully open. The stem is darker than the cap, a kind of dark bronze/copper color, and is a bit thicker at the top. Gills are dark grey/black. The smell reminds me a bit of Psilocybe cubensis. The mushrooms do not bruise when damaged.

So, here they are:

Some of them are a bit different, the cap is of a more brownish color, almost the same as the stem, and the gills are more densly grown. Some of the brown ones also have a cracked skin texture on the cap.

There are also some very little ones, for which I am not sure if they belong to the same species, because of the size and the cap is a bit rounder.

So, that's it. Please tell me what you think. I suspect they all belong to the Panaeolus genus, the question is only which species and is it OK for me to eat them?

Peace <3

They all look like Panaeolus papilionaceus
