Strange. What part of the world are those in?

--------------------
One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Its a Magnolia.. a (tulip tree)..Asian-Variety.. those red berries are the seeds, on the spike. I have a purple flowered one in my yard that looks very similar.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia_liliiflora

The one in my yard looks like this color

As to the exact Species of your plant, I can't be sure. .. However I can say it is A magnolia or related plant based on the seed pod, and leaves of your photo. Here is an example of another seed-pod for a magnolia. Take some photos of it in full bloom.. That might help you to figure out the species or variety.
