Hello again guys!
I have this one jar of grain on the go now.

Just looking for an opinion as to when It'll be ready for G2G transfer? It was inoculated 13 days ago. Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Pasty... I guess. My point in asking is that I'm not sure when the best time to G2G is. This jar looks almost 100% colonized to me but I really don't know if I'm just being hopeful or not as this is my first ever grow.

When there is no uncolonized grains. When its all white. Which will probably be in about 2 days.

Did you inoculate with spore solution or agar?
If you inoculated it with spores, maybe not the best idea to use it for G2G.. maybe do a small tub or a tray with it. Not to sound discouraging, Id just hate for you to end up with a whole round of bad spawn.. been there
But yea I G2G at full colonization, it looks like you might have a couple more days. It wouldn't really hurt anything if its not fully colonized but most of us wait Id sayl

I used Agar but I only transferred it about 4 times before I went to the grain. I continued to transfer what I had left and after about 7 times I finally saw some Rizos. This was just for fun however as I plan on cloning if All goes to plan. I'll start knocking up new grain tomorrow then with the hope to go G2G the day after. Thanks

The only reason to wait for full colonization of a grain master to g2g is to make sure there's no contams hiding that would prevent it from fully colonizing.

Ah, well that's a good reason to wait a couple extra days then

The other reason is that we colonize grain in a window. Grains that take too long to become colonized run the risk of either drying out or an endospore germinating. I used to think that was bullshit until I did some galindoi. I was reluctant to shake them so there was one corner that took forever for the colony to get to.
Anyway I check it a month later and just as the myc was getting to the last few grains, one of them was covered in bacteria.
So if an uncolonized grain is G2G and ends up being one of the last to be taken by the myc, it is possible that either some bacteria or being dry and weakly colonized, could contribute to becoming a vector later.
