00s nostalgia thread
    #22298323 - 09/27/15 12:26 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I've been debating for a little while now if I wanted to make a 00s nostalgia thread
on one had the 00s don't conjure up as fond of memories as the 80s or 90s
but on the other hand we are half way through the 10s
in just a few short years the shroomery will be gaining members born after the millennium
and it might be interesting to see what artifacts will be carried into the future

Could just be that my childhood was pretty much coming to a close when the 00's rolled around, but I don't really have any nostalgia for the 00's. I can't really recall much that would really define the era for me. Majority of that decade is just a lot of getting high and getting drunk and constantly working towards the next time. I wasn't out playing flashlight tag, exploring wooded areas, digging in creeks for tadpoles/turtles, watching life altering TV shows or any of that shit..

I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today.
Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear.
I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear.

lets see I was born in 85 so by the time 2000 rolled around I was 15
I remember listening to a lot of Metallica in high school and watch slasher flicks like Friday the 13th but both of those things are 80s
would come home and watch TRL

Celebrity death match

and Daria

I changed my mind I'm not sure if I want to remember the 00s

I was born in 85 as well. 15 is nearing the end of childhood which is really the only nostalgic memories I have. I shoulda listened to all the old people telling me to enjoy my childhood because they would be the best years of my life.

Yeah, I'm kind of at a loss to think of much that really was distinctive to that decade as well. Farscape I guess?

Damnit now my wife is going to post stalk me, see that and bug me to download the series for her for like the 20th time

I'm not positive when I finally got around to watch Farscape, it was either at the very near end of the 00's or it was like 2010+. When I finally watched it, it was already old as hell and only did because reruns were regularly airing.

I think I first heard about Farscape on the Shroomery while it was still airing. I remember downloading the episodes from some Farscape IRC channel.

Some other cool shows from that period:
Stargate Atlantis (kind of felt like a knockoff of Farscape in some ways but cool in its own right)

Black Books (semi-surreal UK workplace comedy)

:justfuck:

Nostalgia threads are very Wordsworthian. Looking back always reminds me of the "Innocence v. Experience" ideology of the Romantic era.

I was 20 when y2k rolled around. I feel like I've grown as an adult at least a few times. 20-24, 25-30, 30 to present.

It'd be nice to be younger again (who doesn't want to be in the grand scheme of things), but there's part of me that doesn't feel nostalgic at all about events or pop culture.

It's certainly an interesting period of time. I'll likely change my mind in a few years. 90's were better anyway.

Sure he does. He can't in all good faith go around constantly saying Americans are oblivious to anything that isn't American when he's oblivious to the rest of the world..
