Hey everyone, I'm a very new to growing mushrooms, I'm on my first attempt right now. I bought sterilized rye seed grow bags from from a website called shroom supply which I had heard good things about and don't have the money for a pressure cooker just yet. I inoculated 5 bags, 2 psilocybe cubensis Penis Envy, and 3 psilocybe cubensis Golden Teacher. Anyway, in one of the Penis Envy bags I noticed a few rye seeds that started turning a lime green color. I did some research and found that it possibly could be aspergillus? I decided to not chuck the bag just yet and it appears that the mycelium has colonized over the infected spot. I'm Just looking for some outside more specified opinions on the matter?
The other potential problem I just noticed is that there is a dead fly like bug in one of my Golden Teacher bags. Is this bugs rotting carcass going to contaminate the bag?

Good! So, it probably doesn't matter as much then.
It sounds a bit early to be identifying stuff. There are a lot of green moulds.
I'd just keep an eye on it and make sure whatever it is doesn't spread.
With the bags it really shouldn't be a problem anyway.
As long as it is closed, spores won't get out just as much as they won't get in

Well, if it's rotting then yeah. Probably.
If it were properly sterilised that wouldn't happen though.
It is a question of how good the vendor is, which I haven't a clue.
Getting a dead bug in a substrate bag that is supposed to be sterile doesn't seem like the best sign, however...

The fly will prolly just feed your substrate that green you saw couldve been some bruising too Might not be a mold. Either way they are looking alright.

Yea def going to have to wait and see. That bag has colonized the fastest too so I'm a little reluctant to chuck it because and I wanna get this show on the road asap lol. I'm just gonna have to be patient and see what happens and if it spreads I got others that are just taking a little longer.
As for the bug... who knows - maybe ill contact the company I bought it from.

I wouldn't chuck it.
Just throw the bug away when you open it, lol.
