These secrecy oaths sure make it seem like a pretty cool and fun religion.
Trips to the beach, bird watching, campfires and body modification. Have fun at camp Lucifer, Moonshoe!
Quote:
In every ritual degree of Freemasonry and in all the most important ceremonial rituals and initiations of elite orders, the candidate is required to take an oath and is warned of the hideous and grotesque penalty that awaits him if he dares ever to reveal any of the group's innermost secrets.
For example, in the very first degree oath of Freemasonry, the candidate declares:
...binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots, and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea, at low-water mark, where the tide ebbs and flows twice in twenty-four hours, should I ever knowingly violate this my Entered Apprentice obligation.
Second degree Masons recite the following heinous oath:
...binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my breast torn open, my heart plucked out, and placed on the highest pinnacle of the temple there to be devoured by the vultures of the air, should I ever knowingly violate the Fellow Craft obligation.
The third degree oath proclaims:
...binding myself under no less penalty than that of having my body severed in two, my bowels taken from thence and burned to ashes, the ashes scattered before the four winds of heaven, that no more remembrance might be had of so vile and wicked a wretch as I would be, should I ever, knowingly, violate this my Master Mason's obligation.
That's not all.
In the 4th degree, Mark Master of the York Rite, the candidate performs a ritual which symbolizes having his "ear smitten off" if he reveals the order's secrets.
And for the 5th degree, Past Master, the hapless candidate agrees as follows:
...binding myself under no less penalty than (in addition to all my former penalties) to have my tongue split from tip to root, that I might thereafter be unable to pronounce the word.
The sixth degree (Most Excellent Master) of the York Rite continues with the horrific penalties:
...binding myself under no less penalty than to have my breast torn open, and my heart and vitals taken from thence, and exposed to rot on the dunghill.

Rosicrucians aren't a religion
Fraternities in general aren't religions.

It's inherent that all concepts and ideas are man made. I'm not religious, rather spiritual; but I think contesting religion because it's man made would be to criticize the wrong aspect of religion.

Religion > Theology
Quote:
(At this point, it may be proper for me to state that we make a distinction between Religion and Theology--between Philosophy and Metaphysics. Religion, to us, means that intuitional realization of the existence of THE ALL, and one's relationship to it; while Theology means the attempts of men to ascribe personality, qualities, and characteristics to it; their theories regarding its affairs, will, desires, plans, and designs, and their assumption of the office of '' middle-men'' between THE ALL and the people. Philosophy, to us, means the inquiry after knowledge of things knowable and thinkable; while Metaphysics means the attempt to carry the inquiry over and beyond the boundaries and into regions unknowable and unthinkable, and with the same tendency as that of Theology. And consequently, both Religion and Philosophy mean to us things having roots in Reality, while Theology and Metaphysics seem like broken reeds, rooted in the quicksands of ignorance, and affording naught but the most insecure support for the mind or soul of Man. we do not insist upon our students accepting these definitions--we mention them merely to show our position. At any rate, you shall hear very little about Theology and Metaphysics in these lessons.) -Kybalion

The idea of free masonry being a cult-like,elitist,controlling politics kind of deal is a conspiracy as far as I'm concerned. That's what I got from the OP.

“That which we must say to the crowd is – We worship a God, but it is the God that one adores without superstition. To you, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, That you may repeat it to the Brethren of the 32nd, 31st, and 30th degrees – THE MASONIC RELIGION should be by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of THE LUCIFERIAN DOCTRINE. . . Yes, LUCIFER IS GOD.”
THE FREEMASONRY, Jan 19, 1935, quoting instructions by Albert Pike, who simultaneously was Grand Master of the Central Directory of Washington, Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of Charleston, and Sovereign Pontiff of Universal Freemasonry.

Why are half the people in this thread confusing Freemasonry with the Illuminati? The only thing they have in common is that they are secret societies. Freemasons being not so secret.

InfiniteToker said: I had a feeling this thread would not be opened minded and realized that there is a sort of secret society (or more than one) that operates in public. Those privy to the information won't ever spill the beans. Bohemian grove, Bilderberg, etc. Freemasonry is connected with the Knights Templar, Roscrucians, Scottish and Yorkish Rite and many others. Many members are generational members. No one would have a problem, if everything was public knowledge.
You see anytime those in charge of us, gather and it's not publicized; I tend not to trust them too much. My country and many others have a history of lying to me and my fellow citizens.
So you are cool with secret societies as long as they have no secrets?

Listen to these Moonshoe....
Here is Bill Cooper talking about Freemasonry (skip forward to 4:10 the beginning is music). He had a call in radio show and he would talk extensively about masonry and conspiracies....
6 months before 911 happened he told people (and its still on youtube) "whatever is going to happen soon that they blame on Osama bin Laden, don't you believe it for a second".
He was gunned down by undercover officers who tricked him into coming outside of his house at night, 1 month after 911 happened.
He had interviewed ex masons numerous times.
This video below is him interviewing a 32nd degree ex-mason.

Sisters of the Eastern Star is the masonic version for women.
They have lodge and officers the same as the freemasons do, it even happens in the same room as freemasons lodge happens.
