What's the idea behind this? Humidity should be introduced into the incoming duct upstream at least 2 ft or more to be most effective. It needs time to evaporate and mix with the incoming air. If the ultrasonic is just setting in the room it won't mix properly and the room will not be humidified correctly. If it is introduced into the ducting upstream it will be 100% for all incoming air. This prevents the humidity from escaping out of the room before it gets a chance to actually humidify the room. I would get rid of the filter it is not needed. The little swamp cooler will filter the air plenty. I am assuming you built it just to condition the air before it enters the room? It won't cool that room. Ideally you should be drawing air "from" the bucket to a duct, introducing the humidity in the duct and then sending the duct into the grow room.

That bucket is a swamp cooler and has about 10 2" holes in it constantly exhausting air. The tote is a reservoir and drip catcher for the swamp cooler that also acts to direct the airflow up. The pic was taken with the fan off. With the fan on it looks like the ultrasonic isn't even fogging because the fog gets taken away so fast. I haven't needed to use the ultrasonics at all, the swamp cooler keeps it at a steady 80-85% RH. I have the filter on the intake so the swamp cooler water, fan blades, ducting, and swamp cooler mesh stays clean. I should also note im in the desert where we have tons of dust and dust storms. I've been running a swamp cooler like this for the last few months and have seen how nasty everything gets after a while. My martha has a ducting system exactly as you mention, fan blowing into a swamp cooler then into a ultrasonic mixing pail then ducted into the martha. This setup is just simpler. The swamp cooler drops the grow chamber temp about 6 degrees from the garage temp currently so yes it absolutely does cool the room.

Pinks, last few as the temps are now in the low 60s, i have 4 blue logs colonizing and ill make 8 more tomorrow.

despite what you hear and read, pinks will really keep fruiting into the upper 50s and low 60s.  the color and shelf life are improved I think.  The fruits don't get as big though.  If you ever have trouble getting rid of them, keep them above 45F.  I think they die in the 30s which is why they are prone to rotting in the fridge.

Those pinks look nice and meaty.  What type of BE are you getting?

That's interesting.  How much of an increase in shelf life have you noticed?

I haven't experimented much with shelf life but yes they do seem more dense and colorful. I do know i can get them to last 3-4 days in the fridge with little degradation. Typically i try to eat, dry, or sell them within 2-3 days. I use a shoe box sized tote with holes drilled and stuffed with paper towels or coffee filters for some GE, fits about 4 lbs. Drake i agree im really surprised they keep pinning and fruiting, i have noticed the cluster size is smaller than in the 80s but they are much more dense and probably the same weight. Also it seems they are more susceptible to green nasty at lower temps. I haven't seen a single contam for a few months now and over the last week i found two bags with specs of green mold on em near the holes. For BE im honestly not positive. I was tracking yields and was seeing about 1-1.5 lbs per 12-15 lb bag which is about 2 lbs of dry straw so like 50-75% nothing amazing but its a random culture i was traded and its super fast 11 days from spawn to harvest. Higher spawn ratio and adding ~5% chicken manure based fertilizer greatly affects yields.

Just to show how well the swamp cooler works,

69.9F outside the chamber near intake filter

60.9F swamp cooler exhaust

65.4F Room temp is a bit higher than swamp cooler exhaust due to substrate thermal output and conduction through the poly walls.

Impressive 2nd flush off these little 5 lb bags. I dunked them for about 10 min before hanging. I moved all the pink bags from my matha into the walk in. I didn't have a clean pail atm so i just squirted water in the tops to help rehydrate for the next flush.

I just harvested the two fruiting bags and the ones closest to the swamp cooler were a bit slimey on the cap tops. RH was a bit higher than normal today at 90%. I'm ordering a digital humidistat that will control the swamp cooler pump, same as in my martha.

I ended up pulling the digital controller off my martha till the new digital controller comes in, working like a charm controlling the swamp cooler pump.

My army of logs all colonizing. I hate having them on the ground but haven't got around to building my log hanging rack.  The rack will go where the logs in the back are hanging from screws. It will hold two rows of four bags.

Check with some HVAC contractors. I got a huge blower for free from a HVAC friend. Way more cfm than I will ever need. Still waiting to buy my HEPA and build my hood. Hoping to have it done by this winter. Tired of working in a glove box and washing jars all the time. I am ready to move to bags.

I hate the waiting for the glovebox air to settle. Especially since I do 20-24 jars at a time and they won't fit in one batch. I also hate how when I pour gtg especially the last few pours the bottom of the master jar hits the glovebox celing and I need to tilt the bottom jar to get more clearance.

I don't even bother washing jars. I leave them open for a day to dry out a bit then throw the lid on for storage until next use. I wipe the lid if there are seeds or junk near the seal but other than that I leave em dirty and with any old spawn in there. I havent had a jar contam on me in over 100 jars easily.

I'll check with the HVAC guy at work for a fan, if not hit up some local companies. I have a monster $1300 furnace turbocharger looking fan that blows 4-500 cfm to like 2 psibut it sounds like a jet engine spoiling up. I may list that for sale on eBay for someone who needs a monster fan and use that money for a quiet one.

Just picked my first lb off the large logs, it was just a few of the more mature clusters. Some of the fruits were still showing a slight slime on the tops from being 90% rh for too long. I have the RH at 75% now and its slowly getting better. Big harvests should come over the next 3-4 days. Looking like around 5+ lbs if all goes well. The first 4 blue logs are 100% colonized, i'll give them another day or two before moving into the chamber.

after taking this pic i realized green mold at the top right, i removed a large chunk and tossed it out. This block will head to the garden after this flush.

Ready to harvest but i'll let them mature a bit more and harvest tomorrow afternoon for saturdays market. I'll give them one last mist in the morning and let them dry a bit. Temps are 58F so they are maturing real slow.

They are but not too bad. The spores tend to smell bad once released. Im wearing my hepa mask though so i don't smell much. The humidity controler came in today so i rigged up the new box, now i can put the other box back on my martha. All thats left is to install the purge pump running off the bottom timer and finish the exhaust.
