I wish they had half gallons at my local store but they don't. I'd have to go searching for em. I don't have a flow hood anyways and i bet half gallons would be a pita in my glovebox.  I will eventually go to bags if jars on this scale don't work out. Right now the plan is 20 jars a week 12 will go into 4 logs, 3 jars each. Then i'll have 8 extra jars, 2-3 for spawn then the last 5-6 for kings or other cultures to be grown in my martha. That should be enough to keep my martha and grow room at a good production rate.

Idk where you're located, but if you're in the US i could send you a few sterilized bags to try out if you like.

I have all the means and materials for bags just choose not to. I could have been doing them with my 18qt presto in my glovebox, bags just suck without a flow hood, i've tried it before. Flow hood is my next investment.. I need a good few weeks to recover from this grow chamber and pressure cooker expense. So far the grow room has me for $500 and the PC and jars is the same.

I got the exhaust roughed in. I still need to trim and adjust then frame out the larger end with wood for a filter. All thats left is finish this exhaust up and make the door! I'll try and design it so i can easily remove or hinge the filter since my exhaust is also my water drain when cleaning the floor.

new hard water treatment cartridge. Ill probably get the siphon auto drain as well to further reduce clogs. I recieved and installed the mister extension nozzles. What a huge waste. First off its a 5 pack and each system has 6 nozzles so your already short one. You bend the nozzle to the direction you want then let go and its spins to whatever way it wants to go. The only way i can get them to point in the direction i want is grab the lower part with a pair of pliers then bend and this works some of the time. Its a inner metal core with the plastic tube around it, only the plastic is fixed to the threaded end so the metal core just spins around freely inside the plastic. Worst of all i was expecting the original nozzles to attach to the end of these, nope its a built in nozzle that's not removable and seems much harder to clean since you cant easy clean from the inside. JUNK!

I mail ordered the float valve off amazon, just came in so i rigged it up. Now im running the swamp cooler with the fan on medium. I put an ultrasonic on a brick for a trial, its on a timer now 1:30 on :30 off. The swamp cooler pail has a 1/4" hole in the side below the water level to draw water from the tote. Still need to install a purge pump to remove mineral buildup.

Ha. Well damn. Good to know. Guess you can use the misters for your kids to play in in the summer.

Well the misters are great, its just the dam extension nozzles. I may have to rig up a secondary support for adjusting them. maybe some galvanized fence wire, the thick gauge stuff. Zip tie it to the end and to the pole then that will hold the nozzle in the correct direction. I find the best direction seems to be horizontal and pointed diagonally down the walkway. If you point them across to the other side they make a puddle on the bags/logs and if you point them down they just make a big puddle on the ground. We will have to see how this performs with fully fruiting logs, hopefully starting next week! Today im doing a straw and wood pellet supply run so hopefully tomorrow and thursday i can get the exhaust and door finished. I have about 60+ quart jars colonizing mainly of blues and kings so this and my martha should be almost fully packed in 2-3 weeks.

You know what kerdi-fix is?  Strong as fuck. Maybe get em into position and tape them there, then kerdi-fix em. Remove tape after it cures.

So i went shopping the last two days. Picked up 100 lbs white millet, 100 lbs wheat, 300 lbs straw, 500 lbs fuel pellets and 80 lbs gypsum. All together right around $200. This should last me the next 2-3 months hopefully, especially the fuel pellets. Ill blow through the straw but i dont have the storage space for more. I'm giving wheat a try and it seems way less touchy than millet and even milo. Millet only gets a 4-6 hour soak or you get a lot of exploded seeds, milo can get around 8-16 hour soak and typically you see bursts especially at the bottom of jars. Wheat i don't even think can burst??? One thing i noticed with wheat expands more when soaking and not after pressure cooking as millet or milo do, so now i have a load of 1/2 filled wheat jars.  I think ill keep with millet for my master grain jars since its so small especially when going from agar then wheat as bulk spawn. Having mixed grain spawn is also nice for shaking jars or bags, you can really see how evenly its distributed and how well your shaking techniques work.  Wheat is almost 1/2 the price too so its more economical. Im itching to get this chamber full and producing!!!

Progress on the chamber, I purchased all the door hardware and wood. Ill be doing a similar 1x2 frame door as my martha chamber only using L steel brackets in the corners and one wooden cross brace. I have window foam to help seal the door better and an adjustable light duty door spring to shut the door. The bottom of the door i will just have extra plastic to seal off the floor. The door lock will be a simple hook and eye, super easy to adjust. I really need to get this exhaust and door built, right now the chamber is 95% RH since the airflow is going through the swamp cooler then out the door and back again through the swamp cooler. its only 70f in my garage but you break a sweat within seconds due to the high RH. I also need to shim my garage door bracketry at the top to get the door off the seals and allow a crack for fresh air in.

I was an organic rye guy for years. Then i got a bad batch and the health food store that I've been giving  $6000/year to didn't want to make things right on $150. So i made the switch to oats.
I've used wheat plenty as well, it seems oats are less susceptible to bacteria. The only thing that I can say is a negative is the grains are much larger, but it doesn't colonize any slower.

Door is complete and exhaust is patched. My chamber went from 95-100% RH to 85% as soon as i mounted the door. With the system finally sealed up its much cooler and fresh smelling in the chamber. The hinge side of the door has the door plascic taped to the chamber, so the door is more like a large flap. The top and latch side has 1/4" foam window seal and the bottom has a flap of doubled over gorilla tape as to seal the bottom with the floor.

hinge side plastic from the door taped to chamber for positive seal

Duct tape door bottom sweep, i wish i knew the engineered ones are only $10 at HD or i would have bought one.

self closing door, also holds the bottom tight while the top hook and eye holds the top shut
