Fyi, pinks like it hot and blues like it cold.
pinks, and pretty much any mushroom grows higher quality and more brightly colored in the 60s.

I've been having issues with pinning in the 60s with pinks. They pin like mad in the mid 70s, or at least the strain i'm working with. I actually just pulled a lb of some pink bags just now, start of the first flush of 6 bags. I ended up putting my 8" inline fan on my martha since i stole my good 6" turbine fan off it, so for now no circulation fan in the grow room. The swamp cooler pail seems to make a nice updraft with the tote so that may be sufficient. Shit Drake, i didn't know yellows are a cold weather, i need to hit up the marketplace! Need something to replace my pinks with the vibrance factor. Thanks for sharing. Anyone have yellows hit me up!

not so much cold weather, they will grow in the 50s and 60s. they just get really pale and washed out in the upper 70s and 80s. obviously they need 70s for colonizing. on straw they need a pretty crazy high spawn rate compared to say, blues or pinks. I don't really grow them any more because they are very fragile, mostly stem weight (clusters have a super thick stem butt), and just aren't that satisfying to eat when cooked.

Bummer. I may give them a shot anyways for more market variety. I know I love the pinks because they are are all caps. They may not be the best tasting but not much goes to waste if your like me and only eat the oyster caps.

Cleaning took precedence over making the door today, thrashing through the build i've made quite a mess of the garage so i finally got to cleaning and organizing. With the spaced taken up im selling a lot of my items, which just sit around unused anyways. Im also tossing out a lot of junk and organizing better. I did throw my old flushed out bags in the chamber and turned on the misters with no fan. I dunked them first so hopefully ill get a 1-2 final monsters per bag.

Bag hanger rope installed. I left the few SS hooks i have up to try them out as well. Hanging are some flushed out pink bags. I think ill be moving the misters to the outside rails. I can see them getting in the way on the log hanging rails.

Working on that today. Should have 3-4 logs made up today to get the ball rolling.

Just popped my straw log cherry. The two larger logs are around 50 lbs and the small one 23. I need a larger pasteurizer!! I learned a lesson. Pack all the bags, tie the knots and trim the ends. Then clean up before transferring all at once to the grow chamber. I was doing a trip every log and made a mess of my house tracking through it.

ok so i moved them into my incubation room. I just couldn't resist hanging them in the chamber but its too cold in there. I need to make a rack to hang for incubation, i'll make it big enough for 6 logs to start. Now that i know how long a 50 lb log is next time ill shoot for three or four 30-40 lb bags and save my back. I was only able to get 119 lbs wet out of my pasteurizer, next time less water and more bags!! I'm considering making the switch to lime but still not set on it.

PC came in today. Could only fit 20 jars in, with 11 on the top row the lid wouldn't fit. I just picked up 4 doz canning jars and lids. Tomorrow i have 30 jars to knock up! Should make for good market sales come november
Got my new thermometer/hygrometer in today too. This thing is fast, id say it adjusts within 5-10 seconds. It has synthetic human hair for the humidity. $35 shipped from amazon. The white wood wedge above it is where the circulation fan was going to mount.

You can fit 7 half gallon jars on the bottom and 2 lying down on top in the 941. That's what i do. And when i run bags i can fit 7 bags (crammed in there) which is the equivalent of 28 half gallon jars worth of grain.
