Good idea on gravel. Some fine pea gravel maybe. Something clean that won't track dust. I'll see how the concrete works first. The slab is poured with perfect slope for drainage out the big door. I'll be growing blue oysters, maitake, kings, nameko, and shiitake. I'm new to growing all except oysters so hopefully I won't get any issues. I'll have a shelving unit on the end for everything I'm growing out of blocks. Eventually this chamber will be mainly oysters in straw logs then my current grow chamber will be where all the lower fae and top fruiting mushies will be growing out of supplemented fuel pellets. My goal is 20-30 lbs a week from this chamber. And with both this and my old chamber operating I hope for 25-40 lbs. I have an associate to split up markets with on Saturday and a Sunday and Wednesday market as well to make all the sales.

Once this is done I need to source a 330gal tote for pasteurization and get a aa941. My 55 gal drum and prest 18qt will struggle to keep this freshly stocked on a weekly basis. My goal is to keep my labor down to one pasteurizing day and one pc day a week.

if you could put your blue oysters in another room then you could get away with little or no air exchanges and maybe throw a window unit in there to keep it cool.  You really have to crank the humidity at all times for kings, nameko, and maitake if you go without casing.  which isn't great for the regular oysters.  nobody likes soggy fruits.

also- nameko like it warmer than maitake and kings.  unlike what you read in paul stamet's book, they really fruit closer to 70.  not the 50-60 he states.

Thanks for all the great advice. Yea the other varieties will head back to my automated Martha once have time and money to rebuild it after taking the parts to build this one. That chamber gets low fae and I can crank the humidity if needed. So what happens with nameko in the 50-60s? What the high temp threshold for nameko?

Ok great thanks for the advice. I'll still give it a shot and see if I get anything. I won't invest too many bags for nameko as I plan to be in the 50-60 for winter. And you never know maybe the culture I have may be a cooler weather strain???? Shiitake should do well at that temp correct? 50-60.

Light mounted, now to frame up the door and filter housing in wood then wrap in panda film tonight. I left an air gap between the plastic and light fixture for cooling.

For hanging i think ill be using 5/16 galvanized S hooks to attach the bags to rope loops il leave tied on the bars. This will make bag hanging a quick and easy solo maneuver.

14"x24" house filter feeding a 400 cfm VenTech 6" fan. That will blow into a 5 gal swamp cooler pail. I'm going to see how the swamp cooler and misters in timers work alone before i tear into my digitally controlled martha. I feel between patio misters on a timer and the swamp cooler i should be 60-80 RH and should be good for oysters.

It seems every time i unplug and plug in my floros it trips the GFI. Has anyone else had any issues with this? I'm only running a fan and 2 CFL's on the rest of the circuit so there's no way i'm overloading it....

VenTech IF6 6" Inline Duct Fan 440 CFM. Sucks i wish there was a non GFI circuit but everything in the garage is GFI. I even tried turning the light on and off via the pull string and same result. Maybe its time to swap some outlets...

Im wondering if i need to wire the timer not upto the floro power switch but to the pull string switch in the light housing. I want to say the ballast needs constant power to charge up for the next on cycle when turned off. Reason is when i use the pull cord to turn it off and wait 2-3 min it turns on fine. But when i don't let it rest or when i unplug and plug it back it... bam GFCI tripped.

Stopping point till i get a hand with the panda film tonight. I put a large piece of wood on the right jam of the door for mounting displays and electrical. I need to rip down some 2x8s into 1x2s for the door frame so its lightweight.

Tomorrow I'll rig up the misters and ducting then hopefully we will be operational by thursday at the latest. I still need to make one home depot run for a water filter for the misters, square ducting to adapt to the 6" round ducts, more square ducting for the exhaust that goes under the garage door crack, non gfci outlets, hose, hose splitters, and probably some wires as well.

i wish I had an answer but I don't.  all I know is that two wire devices sometimes trip GFIs.  the 'ballast' is mostly a transformer.  now days they are components and not steel and copper.  but it's also high frequency and maybe some of that junk is getting back into the GFI.  either way, if you're running humidity and non-vapor tight flourescent lighting you will have trouble.  remember they are high voltage.  you might get zapped.  just run your lighting above your tent and have a clear plastic ceiling.

ah well then you don't need the GFI.  i don't know how you have it rigged but the less electrical stuff you have in there, the better.
