Mk lol well I was obviously misunderstanding. I do agree that h2o2 is the only option to a big cobweb outbreak, but upping fae will also stop it from happening
OP just check these out:

turned to:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21624840
And this

turned into:

Myc doesn't always have to be white, solid, and rizmorphic for it to be myc. What yours is doing is quite common for straw.
I do agree with micro tho. It should be fully colonized before going into fruiting. Those spots are the place trich loves to attack from.

Haha agreed At least we all hate contamination and love clean spawn.

Hydrogen peroxide inhibits cell building! This is why you should only apply hydrogen peroxide to a cut in the beginning and only once.. Using it is safe for mycelium because it's effective at low concentrations and dissipates quickly before absorbing so much as to have a negative effect.
In college we applied h202 to the roots of plants in an aquaponic system that had root rot. Our other test group was a brew of beneficial bacteria. The control with no treatment died in two weeks, the beneficial bacteria test group rebounded and showed new shoots by the first week, the h202 treated roots needed several treatments to resolve the sludge/rot issue and the plants rebounded to produce new shoots at 3-4 weeks depending on the plant..
There is no beneficial fungal bacteria one can buy such as those available for plants, this is why we use peroxide for fungi... It does inhibit growth slightly, but is at such a weak solution it is safe and the delay of growth is not major and sometimes not noticed...
I personally use it as an oxygen additive in hydroponics where roots are always submergedand have used it on fungi as well and ended up with beneficial effects.
I still agree with Mad just give it more FAE and air will take care of the cobweb if it's circulating well. Spraying h202 on the substrate will oxidize it and bleach it out faster especially since it's not fully colonized...

I actually got an offer once for a job studying psychrophilic trichoderma in Alaska.
God, I'm glad I didn't do that, it would have sucked

you only spray it once. This is what you do for cobweb.
Were not talking about plant or people.
 were talking about killing cobweb.
The mycelium will still grow just fine(it'll take a day to bounce back) and the cobweb will be dead. Somtimes the cobweb wins though depending on how deep the cobweb was.
It's a tried and true method.

impatientguy said: I disagree If there's cobweb mold then the best route is hydrogen peroxide or to throw the grow out. Mycelium isn't damaged by peroxide at all.
So like I said if it is cobweb mold then it will be taken over soon and even if it did hurt the mycelium(which it wont) if it's cobweb then all you will be doing by not doing a peroxide treatment is growing more cobweb. So what are you going to lose if you thought the grow was toast anyways.
Like I said do a small test spot to see. It won't just foam like mad season said it will actually dissolve cobweb mold on the spot(if it is cobweb mold anyways). If you really think it is cobweb mold I'd recommend doing a hydrogen peroxide treatment.
But I have a feeling mad season will have somthing to say to to try and make me look wrong.
So i got hydrogen peroxide and diluted it in water about 10:1
It dissolved most of it real quick leaving nice mycelium under neath. Also i flipped it over and there was definitly cobweb. i sprayed it pretty good, so hopefully it doesnt mess with the mycelium.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!. although it seems as though no one can seem to agree on anything lol.

dude, what's all that brown stuff under the straw?
dirt? manure?
the only reason i ask is it seems to be colonising the outside only
though i could be wrong, if it is the pic
i'm assuming that wasn't the cobweb you were describing o.O
