Merchant Dispute

Long story short is we were moving with a U-Haul and a tire blew out. They covered it but it set us back 4 hours of driving time so we decided to call it a night.
Booked a room and it went to a 3rd party site of getaroom.com.
U-Haul offered to pay for a room for us which we accepted.
I called getaroom.com back and canceled the reservation (maybe 15 minutes later max). I read all of their fine print and canceled it well before their "too bad" cutoff time. They assured me it would be off my card in 5-10 business days ( ).
So here I am now just getting Internet access at our new home. I log into my credit card statement and the charge is still there.
Credit card company said there will be a letter arriving in 7-10 days regarding the dispute.
Any advice on how to proceed? I have their email confirmation, name of the representative, email cancellation, phone log and everything related to this.
We have a credit line of 25k through them and our balance always zeroes out after I get my miles/points and our credit is amazing. I'm not worried about any of that.
What I *am* worried about is the getaroom.com people disputing it on their end and not getting my money. The woman kept putting me on lengthy hold times until I finally said "I know you're delaying this call so you can keep my money so reverse the transaction or let me speak to a supervisor please". Within maybe two minutes she said it was taken care of and reversed.
Is this going to be a battle? I've only had to do one once and it was almost 15 years ago on the same card. The vendor backed down and settled the dispute by just returning the funds that day. I don't see this being as easy..
And what else is this going to do, stay on our credit as a "gray mark" for a short period of time? Or a black mark if there's no resolution or return of funds?
We are technically and by all means (literally per their terms and conditions) in the right. I even called the hotel we were going to be staying at and they said the room was no longer being held for us and we had no obligation to do anything else, as all was said and done.
Thanks for reading and any subsequent help, advice, guidance or direction.

It sounds like you have collected all of the pertinent documentation, make sure you provide it to the CC company and I am sure you will get whats coming to you.. Don't worry about all of the different scenarios until one becomes a reality.

Thanks for the peace of mind and reminder of worry about it if or when it happens. Frustrated right now but not so much anymore.

I had a dispute recently on a credit card transaction. The disputed amount wasn't due until resolved. I "won" (they never shipped the item) and the amount was taken off the following month. Just had to send them the documentation. Sounds like you should be good.

Has it been 5-10 business days? Often, CC transactions take a bit to process.
I'd wait the alotted days, have the information from getaroom in hand, then call them back.

I got a letter within 3 days and I forwarded my bank their email noting that the money would be refunded.
It's since been refunded by my cardholder. They stated the merchant wasn't interested in pursuing it.
That was too easy.

Every time you check your credit, it goes down 4 points.

False. Checking your own credit results in a "soft pull" which isn't visible to creditors and doesn't affect your credit score.
I literally check my credit every single day.
