ID Request in Georgia
    #22293785 - 09/26/15 01:50 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Long time lurker first time posting. New to hunting but I know im in a pretty good place to look around.

Habitat:
Found in Gwinnett county, woods heavy with leaves and dead wood

Gills are attached and a light brown color.

Stem is hollow

Just found today so im still waiting on a spore print. Havent noticed any pronounced blue bruising. Any idea on what it is?

They don't look like weilii to me...

Stipes are not floccose, caps do not show an umbonate nipple on top which is usually the darkest spot on the cap, mature caps look more funnel-like whereas weilii are usually broadly convex to nearly plane, no bruising? At least not as of yet, gills on weilii are not subdecurrent and those slightly are...  Etc, etc...

I have not seen P atlantis in person so I cannot speak of those, but these do not resemble those either according to descriptions. They are not a gymnopolus species either.

I would say  they are not active, maybe a trusted identifier will be able to give you a positive identification  once you've got that spore print should be much easier!

Welcome to the shroomery!
Happy hunting and good luck!

Not sure about Atlantis, but for weilii you should think of places that have been recently disturbed and are of a red clay soil and are a habitat along the tree line of the woods.  I found mine where the water rushes and congregates... I found them right above where the water would puddle and the red clay was visible with minimal vegetation.

Atlantis will be found in lawns and lots supposedly, and in times of high rain weilii can share the same habitat and be found in grass of recently built subdivisions.

Gyms are to be found in the woods, and I don't find them to be very common on my hunts and have only found them with other people, I do see some massive finds on here, but I wouldn't focus on gyms.

Good luck in the next few days:thumbup: i found a spot of blackish blue dried up mushies along a Forrest line.  I am thinking they are weilii which aren't proving to hard for me to find so tomorrow and the next days should prove me right or wrong

You should check this out http://http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21599133/fpart/14/vc/1#21599133
You should focus on cubensis and weilii!!

Should come out with a White spore print.
Armillaria tabescens.

It was indeed a white spore print. Thanks for the ID!
